Default cannot display web page

I attempt to go to one of my favorites.Up will come "internet explorer cannot display this web page." I'll try four or five different sites and will get the same message. Then I'll finally get into one of my sites.I go back to the previous sites I couldn't get into and I can enter all of them.Everything is ok for awhile then the same thing starts all over again.I tried a reset to previous settings but it hasn't helped.Any suggestions?

I know several people who have had a lot of problems with IE, including myself. I would always get the message "script running slow, would you like to close this program". My computer guy told me to download Google Chrome. I don't have any problems with that browser. For my games, etc. on FaceBook, I use Firefox. I don't use IE at all anymore.

The problem you describe would generally indicate that your ISP's connection to the actual web (as opposed to your connection to your ISP) has temporarily failed, not unusual during thunderstorms etc. due to power failures at their equipment site. If this happens more often, like several times a day, then perhaps you might call them. There are a few other factors that could cause this situation depending on the type of equipment you are using (like a wireless connection vs dial up or modem etc) but that's where I'd start. I would also agree with Bonny, I had a somewhat similar problem (took a very long time to display a site and occasionally timed out) even with Firefox but going to Chrome fixed it.

Are we talking about a modem connected desk top or a WiFi lap top?

You might also try clearing the browser cache. The easiest way is to press F12. Then select "Cache" from the menu bar and then "Clear browser cache" from the dropdown.

Check your security settings. Also your internet trusted sites.

Are you using IE9? I have encountered tons of issues with IE9, including ones like you are describing. I can encounter an "internet explorer cannot display this web page" error and access the desired page immediately with Chrome. I would suggest you give Chrome a shot.

Default Try Google Chrome

I'm with the other posters about using Google Chrome. I started using Google Chrome about 3 months ago after having a lot of problems with IE9. Now I rarely use IE9 any longer. Google Chrome seems to work a lot better.

I started using Google Chrome because y'all have been raving about it. But now everything seems too large for the page. I assume there is some adjustment I should make somewhere.
Technically challenged Bare.

This sounds like a wifi bandwidth problem. How many computers/iPads/notebooks etc are on your wifi? Are you using a secure network? If you set up your wifi as public, you could have you and all your neighbors on it. That could load it up.

No neighbours using our wifi, it is password protected. When I was using Internet Explorer as my browser, everything seemed to fit. But with Chrome, suddenly the print seems too large. I do like the fact that Chrome highlights spelling mistakes though, very clever.

Here's a vote for Google Chrome!

Had similar problems especially with Thevillages.net

Chrome works fine
