Default Verizon problem

Lived here for 10 months with no problem . Hubby has older flip type phone that started to drop calls . Verizon has no solution other than to buy internet capable phone. At an upgrade of $75 per month. NOT happening

Has anyone n
oticed a change to their Verizon service in the last month?

Btw back in NJ and hubby has no problems

Try doing an update on the phone. Dial *228 and then choose option 2. This will update the routine tables of available cell towers. May improve your service.

I'm in Hadley and have definitely been dropping calls this past month. Had been a problem previously, then seemed to fix itself. Now dropping calls again - I've never had any luck reporting this to Verizon - they simply say "hmmm haven't heard of any problems in your area". Hope it fixes itself again 'cause this is bothersome.

Cool

On some of the older phones, you can dial *228 to get an update on the phone. Sometimes, when they change programming in the towers, it prevents your phone from connecting properly.

This normally only works with the older flip style phone. The new phones (specifically iPhones) doesn't need this step and they are always reprogramming themselves for reception.

No problem with my phone (had same phone for 7 years now)
What I did do when I came down here was switch from a regular contract plan to a prepaid (no contract) and ended up getting unlimited everything for $50/month instead of the 700 min/unlimited text my old contract was at a more expensive rate.

I am also having a big problem with Verizon lately in the Village of Charlotte. Many incoming calls now go straight to voicemail, and I often see no data or 1x indicated on my Motorola Smartphone. Folks that I speak with often say I'm breakng up when I speak to them now. This worsening of signal is over the last couple of months. It was fine prior. One note, I think the block/concrete homes block (no pun intended) the cell signals more than the frame/siding homes...althought this doesn't explain what's seems to be happening lately. As usual, Verizon is no help.

My back-door neighbor has also asked me if I am having signal issues with Verizon lately.

We had the same problem last year about this time. Verizon had no solution other than to sell us a Power Booster that connects to our modem. WE had the new Iphone and Droid. so the Phone does not make a difference. We have lived in the Lady Lake Area for the past 17y winters and the problem only started last year. Probably due to the number of people using the service.

If our Modem goes out the phone reception is awful still.

We have noticed an increase in dropped calls. Verizon says that our house in Charlotte is on the fringes of 3 towers but they don't have plans to put in another one. They tried to sell us a "booster" but wouldn't guarantee it would help. Maybe if we keep calling and complaining something will be done.

While looking at homes to buy I checked the cell strength each time (Verizon) and noticed that it was very different in every home... from poor to VG. I find that so very strange as the towers should cover the entire Villages the same.
