Does anyone have their iPhone Mail configured to point to their villages.net account using iMAP? I have it working successfully on my Gmail and Hotmail accounts but the instructions on thevillages.net website under Help are not accurate. Called their tech support but no one there even has an iPhone to test with -- the instructions with screenshots that they posted were from something they grabbed off the internet.
Specifically, when you configure your iPhone to point to thevillages.net SMTP mail server, only Mail and Notes come across. It does not synch your Contacts or Calendar. I've tried doing this on phones using both Verizon and AT&T as the ISP. Thanks.

Why would you use the Village Net? T-times?

Yes, exactly. And because of that, some folks use that system for all their email and don't want to change their addresses over to Gmail or some other more robust system.
I'm trying to help a couple of friends who are in that situation setup their iPhone mail such that it ties together their mail, contacts and calendar on thevillages.net just like you can do if you use Gmail. Looks like villages.net uses IceWarp mail as the web client. I've been rooting around their forums and tech support but no luck yet. I've got a feeling tv.net has an older version that does not really work that well with IMAP but I'm not positive yet.

Agreed about their tech support.
RE: convincing them to switch over to Gmail.....oh, if only I could!! Change can often be difficult for some- ![]() They've got nice, short email address names (e.g. "chris@villages.net") that are not available on Gmail so they're averse to the changeover process along with not being able to say "just email me at....@villages.net" But they're getting close. The more I show them on mine the benefits of and how easy it is to keep their contacts/calendars in sync, the closer I get. And that outcome is probably more likely than getting it working on thevillages.net side. It's a great tee time reservation system but the email capabilities are limited.

I got a new smartphone (LG840G) and it picked up my villages.net account for email "notices." Worked for about a week and then quit. After much research found that the IP address for villages.net email is blacklisted for spamming (IP 174.58.240.204). Had to change everything over to my comcast.net address. Only difference is that I was not getting charged units for notice of emails on villages.net; but am losing units when I "retrieve" my email list for comcast.net and them more units if I want to read full email. After this incident I realized that the only emails I ever get on villages.net is all spam except for the villages newsletter. Since I never use that email I have it all set to delete after so many days.
