Why did my Windows media player stop showing the video component of videos my hunting friends from up north send me? The audio is there but the video componend doesn't load. I re-downloaded version 11 of Windows media.... no help?
Anyone have an answer? |

My initial guess is it has to do with the drivers for your video card. Have any updates ran lately? maybe a new piece of software was installed before the problem started.
I would first try re-installing the drivers for your video card. |

on the bottom of your laptop there is a model number and service tag. with those numbers, I can provide you with a file to run to reinstall your video card drivers.
It's a simple download, run, reboot thing. |

I'm having problems with my Media Player, too. It won't open or play some files I receive via email. It used to and suddenly stopped. Now, the only way to play some files is to download them using Foxfire.
I used to use Media Player for storage of all my music files then switched to ITunes. Sadly, I have discovered I don't like ITunes and want to switch back but can't figure out how to export the files back. I have been able to make a playlist on Media Player by transferring files from a flashdrive. However, the files won't copy into the library. I'm frustrated. I'm in a mess and can't figure this out! |

When you install iTunes and other music/video programs, they hijack your video types.
Try saving the video to a file and go into media player and try selecting the videos that quit working to see if they work. If they do work, you will have to reassociate the video type to Windows Media Player so they default to that player. Just something to try. If it worked before and quit working something was changed. I seriously doubt if it was the drivers. Z
