Default AED Program

Does anyone know what the AED program is?? I've lived here a very short time and already have someone asking for Money! They say it's for a life saving program, etc. She has been to the house 3 times now asking for a check....

I fear for a scam as I have head many time of such......does anyone have a suggestion or information.

Thanks you,

Bryant

Here's a link to more info about The Villages AED program. It is usually done on a street by street basis. If the person coming to your house doesn't live on your street, I would be suspicious.
ReadyAlert AED

Or on a village area basis.

Yes, the responders need to get there QUICKLY, so it can't be too big an area.

I am the organizer of the Mission Hills AED Program. I have raised over $23,000 in the past six months for our Program and just completed a very successful Home Tour fundraiser on Saturday for our AED Program. You should go talk to Gail Lazenby at the Fire Station/Emergency Services on Morse just past 466A as he is the AED guru for The Villages. Volunteers in your neighborhood would be trained on CPR and how to use AED machines and they would respond to an alert when someone calls 911 with a respiratory or coronary attack. Raising money for the AED machines, batteries, Alert System which is connected to 911, Waterproof boxes and metal boxes to hang the machines in the Village are all part of what you fundraise for. The volunteers use the CPR and AED's until the emergency services arrive. It us up to the Village community to raise the funds to run and maintain the program.

Yes, also on Ellenton Run and its expanding to the nearby cross streets. One neighbor is in charge of it and gave us all literature and emails about the program. Our group is doing very well. I wish I could be a first responder, but I'm tooo old...

We have had the program in our village almost from day one. Best investment you will make.....and it could save your life.

Sounds like your village/neighborhood needs an improved communication scheme if you live there and don't know about the program!

This is a voluntary effort by neighbors to be able to respond fast if the EMS crews are out on other runs and can't get there fast.

I recently met a couple who chose not to buy in TV because of "the developer.....who's 'too greedy' to provide AEDs" (among other complaints).

Little do they know, about the ongoing costs of running these AED programs, with equipment and monitoring-dispatch fees by contractors, etc.

Our neighborhood holds various fundraisers to pay for it, since some think they'll never need it or whatever. Neighbor-Responders are ready to run to their aid if needed, all pettiness aside.

Our neighborhood in Pennecamp (Jacaranda Island) has this program. It was presented at our first social by a former ER nurse. They asked for donations (no set amt) and volunteers to be responders. Most of the neighborhood went to the CPR classes held by Gail Lazenby and we were certified. Our neighborhood has 3 AED's and 30 responders. This should be presented to your neighborhood either at a social, driveway party or some other large neighborhood gathering. A single person going door to door raises suspicions and will not generate much support for the program. It is more than donating money. You need volunteers to make it work.
