Default All About Grout

I just want to give a shout out to Brian Jayne and All About Grout. He, his wife and brother did a great job today cleaning my kitchen, laundry and bath floor tiles and staining the grout slightly darker and then sealing the grout. They were really careful and had drop cloths over my living room and bedroom floors. No complaints whatsoever. It’s actually the first work that we have had done where we were completely satisfied. I do try to research whoever we hire. But we have had landscaping done, kitchen cabinet knobs installed and a living room floor installed where if we could do the projects over, we would hire someone else. Also since this house is pretty new I called the warranty office re if staining and sealing grout would invalidate the warranty. I was told it would not but if they did have to replace floor tile the grout color wouldn’t match. If that were the case, i’d Just call Brian.

I’ve heard good things about this company.

The grout that was used was really light and was showing dirt and stains already. It was no longer a uniform color. Now it is and with the sealer, hopefully will stay that way.

I'll second the kudos to All About Grout and Brian. I had some hairline cracks and two small areas where the grout was actually missing in the floor tiles. Put off repair because I dreaded the fine dust that grinding out the existing grout would create. I finally faced that fact that it needed to be done and contacted Brian. He felt he could just fill in the problem areas without grinding and suggested we try that first; definitely didn't have to convince me.

Even though I had the house specs and Brian started with the same brand/color that was original, he wasn't happy with the color match; I guess after 14 years age changed the existing grout a bit. Anyway, Brian added a dab of this and that until he was happy with the color and he made the repairs invisible. And a big bonus - no dust! I would have had it done much much sooner if I'd known.

For small jobs and if you're a do-it-yourselfer, there is TEC Grout Recolor. I had white subway tile backsplash put in my kitchen about 7 years ago, then 5 years ago I had the kitchen refaced in white cabinets. The backspash seemed to blend in so much, that it no longer stood out. I bought this product at Lowes, they do not stock it in the stores, but you can order from their website and receive it in less than a week for about $12.

It is a little messy, I found the best method was don't try and stay in the lines but immediately wipe the access off with a wet sponge or rag. It really made the backsplash pop and I was glad I did it. I used just a gray color instead of a blue or some other color.

I am tossing around the idea of having my grout cleaned and sealed, the kitchen and bathrooms of a Lily, I've never seen a price, does it cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. Thanks for any ideas.

All I know about grout is that it is way better than gout!

We had our kitchen, small laundry room and bathrooms done for approximately $325.
