Thumbs down All Star Cabinets and Granite

I would highly recommend all to stay away from All Star Cabinets and Granite in Southern Trace Plaza. The edging on the slab is wavy, not smooth. Their installers do mediocre work and don't leave a finished product. Caulking is sloppy and had to be redone in spots. Homeowner has to do final sheetrock repairs and painting to complete job. We had a drawer front damaged and it took 15 weeks (that's right, 15 weeks) to finally get the problem resolved. Installers tried to touch up damage and never said anything to us about it. Called the owner and he took damaged panel and tried to repair it, in the end had to order a new panel after numerous calls and visits to the store. In the process he lost the knobs. We replaced the knobs but they're not an exact match. Had the counters sealed with a permanent sealer and they did not buff out product, just hand wiped it, leaving a haze. Lucky for us I have an automotive buffer and was able to complete the job. Can't talk to owner, he never returns calls or keeps follow up appointments concerning complaints; has one of his staff call back a few days later. In a nutshell, look for somebody else.

Wow. They've done two jobs for us and we have quite a few friends that have used them. We get compliments on our granite all the time. This is the first time I've heard something so negative.

When we hire someone to do work we expect to get a professional job, such was not the case.

We used All Star earlier this year for the kitchen counters and two bathrooms. We were and still are extremely pleased with their work.

They gave us names of previous customers who had the types of granite we were considering. We visited three homes and each job looked good and the owners were very happy.

We visited their yard when our slab arrived, to approve it, and they found that it was not large enough to accommodate our breakfast bar in one piece. They ordered another slab, we went and approved it and they laid out the templates for us so we could get the markings where we wanted them. They even cut and installed a piece for a kitchen island, we bought, at no extra charge.

The installers did a professional and neat job and they met all scheduled times. I think we did paint the under counter supports (the Corbels) for the very heavy breakfast bar counter.

We had some haze after the sealing but they came back a couple of days later and took care of it without any problems at all.

Our experience with All Star was so good I was surprised to read this original post.

We used them to install granite counter tops in our kitchen. I thought they did a great job. Sorry you were dissatisfied with their work.

If a contractor has to go back and fix problems, then he has a problem with his help. I guess mediocre work is acceptable down here, not where I'm from. My previous employers didn't tolerate return visits, either.

We also had problems with Allstar. They left our cabinets in a mess, cut the openings for the soap dispensers incorrectly (can't be fixed), and the plumber was inadequate. All of our faucets are dripping and the handles need to be re-alligned. Our kitchen sink had to be re-alligned twice and it is still not correct. There are chuncks missing along the sink. We were told it was fixed, however, the "fix" fell out again, and we once again have noticeable gaps around the sink.
The granite is beautiful, however, we don't encourage anyone to look very closely at the workmanship.

Default Allstar Granite

I too warn to stay away from Allstar. Not only did they destroy the woodwork under my upper counter upon removing my previous counter, but they sloppily tried to cover up extensive damage with wood putty. They did not measure my sink template correctly, their edging was poor and the quality of the granite from their supplier (Ultimate Granite) was not properly fabricated. It shows a lot of etching and is not smooth and glassy as I have seen in other homes and in my own previous home with a Home Depot installation. The owner claimed that sealing would help that issue, but no it did not. Also, the only really experienced installer called in sick on the day of my installation and instead of postponing the job, they went ahead and sent the back up crew who left a huge gap where the granite was pieced together, right on my top front counter...the most visible area. To their credit, after several complaints, calls and cancelled appointments, they did improve this gap, when they sent their experienced person out, and my salesperson there, who tried to help, finally had the woodwork repaired under the counter. I ended up having to pay for the drywall damage and repainting of the woodwork. Although I loved the granite brownish/gold shade, the obvious etching, which they tried to cover with some resin type repairs, resulting in several dull looking, rough feeling patches are a continual eyesore reminding me daily of my poor choice in installers.

Seems like everybody and his brother is getting into granite installation. They watch a YouTube video and presto they hang a shingle out front.

You are so very right!! Wish we had read your post sooner. They just did that to us. Very poor quality work. Hoping the owner Trevor is going to take care of it.
