Default Ice Maker doesn't work

Anyone know of a good Ice Maker repairman. TV gave me a number to call but they want $85 to walk in the door and then charge for parts and labor. It is a Whirlpool French Door Front with the Ice Maker in the Refrigerator and the Freezer below. I tried on line but I can't find the exact model instructions.

Did you check if the water line of the ice maker Is frozen. Ours freezes sometimes so we use a hair dryer. It then takes a while until it starts making ice again.

Yes, I have checked the water inlet and it is not frozen. The water dispenser works fine and I used the water filter bypass tool to make sure the water filter was not clogged. The best solution I can find on the Internet is either the thermostat or the water solenoid in the Ice Maker.

Did you check online to just buy a new icemaker? It's probably less than the $85 service call. Most are. It's simple to remove the old one and install a new one.

My Frigidaire ice maker stopped while gone. I was able to find the service manual online and used the instructions for a service man to problem solve the issue. The codes on the display panel lead you through the various tests to isolate the problem. For example, one simple test is to open and shut the refrigerator door, the one in front of the ice maker. The logic tells the ice maker to run a cycle in case you pulled out the "bucket" and removed ice cubes by hand. It would know, then, to start making more cubes.

The catch is being to dig out the service manual off the internet. Good Luck.

OP, to answer your question, Beck's was great repairing our Whirlpool French door Ice maker. I have posted his phone number a few times (do a search of Beck's), he had the part on his truck and was done in less than a 1/2 hour.
I my case the part that flips the ice cubes out of the tray failed. These are now sealed units, and not field repairable, so the whole unit was replaced in the pull out tray.
I did look at the Internet for solutions before calling the repairman. The hairdryer trick did work for about 2-3 weeks, then it failed again, and the hairdryer did not work.
Hope this helps.
