Unfortunately this is an Embarq (nee Sprint) service area and that's your local service provider unless you go wireless. We have POTS (plain old telephone service) from Embarq just for the phone book listing. Embarq does offer DSL, but I don't know if all areas of TV are included in their coverage area.

Comcast now has a landline service. You can get cable, phone and internet at a good deal. I am going to switch from Embarq phone and internet to Comcast.

Unfortunately, Verizon's landline footprint in Florida only covers the six counties around the Tampa area. Too bad, their FIOS internet/television service is the gold standard in broadband. We have it on Long Island and it's great. The only Verizon "connection" for those in TV would be through Verizon's cellphone service.

The issue raised by blueeagle65 is a valid one...a telephone listing. Is there any other lisiting of TV residents or owners other than the Embarq telephone book?

How does one get your telphone number or even look it up (ie www.Switchboard.com) if you obtain your telephone service from Comcast, magicjack, or some other provider?

Hello 784Caroline,

You can always try Superpages.com, if you know the person's last name & where they live it will come up with their address & phone #....I tried it for our friends that live in TV & their landline # came up....so that's another option if you want to try...

Thanks to everyone that responded to my question...i appreciated it very much..i guess i'll just use my Verizon cell # from Jersey for when i come to live parttime in TV!!!!

My point was if you dont have a hard landline such as Embarq...but use Comcast or magic jack, will your number be listed in any directory. Superpages.com most likely only picks up a landline listing that comes from Embarq.

You do not need a landline phone to be listed in the Villages Phone Book. As long as your cell has a 352 area code, you can contact the VCCDD at 753-4508 and change your phone listing to your cell number. I did this a little over a year ago and have had no problems as a result. I don't have a landline and haven 't missed it.
