T&D Screen Enclosures has given us a proposal for a bird cage, including a floor coating called UltraCrete. We're curious how this floor coating compares with those used by Aristocrete and others for patios and driveways. I understand UltraCrete is an acrylic and not epoxy. Has anyone used T&D's floor coating but wished they had this part of the job done differently? My gut reaction is T&D wouldn't use an inferior product but there's nothing like hearing from people who have been there, done that.

We just looked at this material for our lanai floor. It is very attractive but I do have concerns about its texture and being difficult to clean.

Would love to hear others experiences.

UltraCrete is an acrylic paint available from Colorwheel. I have it on my lanai floor over a cool deck like finish and it matches the base color of the house. I have to re-paint about once a year as drippngs from plant pots and other things will stain the paint. It seems to wear OK. I'm looking for a finish coat that may protect against the stains so I don't have to re-do it as often. I'd be interested if you find an alternative.

Thanks for your responses, mikeod. We're looking for something that demands less maintenance. Maybe just painting??

Thanks Mikeod for your feedback. On the UltraCrete web site they mention a clear coat without details. I'll have to check with ColorWheel to see if this clear coat is a top coat for the base color and if it provides the stain protection that you're looking for. Repainting once a year sounds like more work than I'm interested in doing. I've gotten somewhat lazy in my retirement. I'm sure they'd don't recoat driveways every year and that's after regular hot tire marks. Would pressure washing remove the stains or is it easier just to touch up the stains? Maybe we should consider a darker color.

Pressure washing gets rid of some of them, but some of them are really resistant to any cleaner. There's an orange stain that appears to be from the irrigation water since it is also on the concrete pad outside the cage.

I used H&C clear wet look gloss sealer which I found at Lowes for $24 to coat the Ultra Crete. I gave it two coats and it looks fantastic. I just did a repaint and It does last as I did this same process on my new home nine years ago. I used a roller to apply and the best part it cleans up with water.
