Duncan Stone in Tavares did our granite counter tops. They were wonderful. They sometimes have a rep at vendor night at SS.

My original thought had been to just replace the counters which would have been a terrible mistake. I thought I could replace just the doors, but that was pretty expensive. The original cabinets were pressed board builders grade and had deteriorated badly in hidden areas. the person who did our cabinets was Tim Field (Tim the Cabinet man).

We bought a new CYV in June of this year, with the plan of turning it into a Permier CYV. We totally ripped and stripped the inside and put tile down & granite, all new fixtures, sinks etc. Had backsplash tiled. Did it all ist class. We did leave the cabinents as we liked them. We had HD do the whole thing and were VERY pleased with everything including the price. All total it came to a little under $18,000.
Highly recommend HD. Their Contrator Crews were clean, hard working and total professionals.

What does "HD" stand for? That sounds like a great price for all that work. We are making settlement in January and I would like to make some changes in our home too. Do you have a phone number?

Thanks Money! Yes HD = Home Depot
What we liked was we could pick everything out at our local HD and then when I called the Lady Lake one, just had to give them the sku number. Worked like a charm.

Wood Floors

any starting point would be great. thanks everyone.

When we bought, we stripped and ripped the whole inside out of our new CYV and then redid it like we wanted. We did it all lnog distance. That is why we chose to use Home Depot, we could pick out all we wanted at our local HD and then called the Lady Lake HD and had them contract it and get it done. It worked GREAT! And would definitely recommend it and do it again if we had to. The other key to this is to have a GREAT Homewatcher. Ours was there constantly checking on the work for us, sending pix, etc. We use Safe Home Watch Service which is done by two other TOTV posters, Ed & Mary Edwards, she uses Odie as her avatar. We also had some close friends stop by and check it out also, so between the two of them, we were kept constanlty updated. So HD, friends, and Home Watcher are the keys.

ARMY GUY

To do a major project like what you describe while you were away for the entire time took guts..especially considering anything and everything that can go wrong. I was glad to see that you had "paid" home watchers as your primary contact for that would have been alot of responsibilities for a friend. I know when we first moved in we had a friend open the house and let a company hang some fairly expensive vertical blinds and we were told all is well and paid the bill. When we got to our place 4 months later we found a problem and then called the company and they said this was something that should have been brought to their attention when it was installed. WE got it resolved but with a minor hassle.

Even today we are having some concrete work done (in addition to oher things) and there was alot of on-site questions by the framing crew and if we were not there they would simply do it their way. That said it sure is noce to come back to your place and its all set up (hopefully) the way you want it.

I am in the same situation......live in NY until we move down there full time in 2011.

We also do not like our countertops...(pink). I plan on doing a complete new kitchen after we move in, so for now I am considering www.gianigranite.com

A friend of mine used it and loves it. For less then $50.00 you completely change the look. It may be an option for some of you.
