Default BEWARE of All American Brick Pavers

We contracted with All American Brick Pavers on 4/26/2012 to install brick pavers on our walkway and driveway. We met with Patricia Colon (owner)and she took us to several of the paving jobs her company had done here in the Villages and they indeed were beautiful. She said she had been in business for 26 years and her company was 2nd to none. The company motto was "WE DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME". She also told us that she purchased her brick pavers from the same company she had done business with for years and they made quality pavers. The driveway pavers were installed and I will say they did do an excellent job. The pavers were then washed with an acid wash to prepare them for sealing. We noticed after they were washed that there were some "oil like" stains on about 40 of the pavers. We called Ms. Colon and she came out and said that the pavers were defective and that during manufacturer of the pavers there must have been some oil or hydraulic fluid that got into the mix or on the pavers. She agreed to replaced the pavers, telling us she had never had this happen before and she would "stand by her work". After the defective pavers were replaced she then sealed the driveway. After the sealer dried we saw there were more of these "spots" that came out. We are guessing that the sealer brought them to the surface of the brick. She came out again and replaced about 1/2 of the defective pavers. When she finally returned my calls this week to find out when the repair work would be finished she told me she would be NOT be completing the repair work as promised. Her words were "I have already spent too much time and money on your job". She told me that we could call the paver manufacturer directly and fight with them and then told me that I would have to pay her additional money to have the rest of the defective pavers replaced. We are sick about this as it was an expensive job and the driveway looks terrible with all these stains. We were promised quality work using a quality product. She assured us she would stand by her work and were promised that the defective pavers would be replaced. We now have about 30 pavers with "oil like spots" all over them and a contractor refusing to service her customers and honor her word. Please, please beware of this company.

Sorry about the situation It disturbs me to read so many people having issues with home and landscaping projects in this area.

Make sure you report them to the BBB and you might call senior crime board. Does sound like she did try to rectify the situation but she should be the one going head on with the paver company not you and got new pavers elsewhere, finished your project and dealt with, but sounds like they're not going to help you any further. Hopefully someone here might be able to direct you to someone or a way to make them look right
.

I would almost call a company like Lowes and see if they can come out and see if there is a way to fix it. I know its more money down the drain but they do stand behind there contractors work. We've had issues with a contractor and they sent someone out right away, brought in a different contractor made sure everything was rectified to our satisfaction. If the stain is sealed in not really sure what can be done though
Wish you good luck and hope you're able to get it fixed.

You should absolutely report this to seniors vs crime..They have a great staff and will help try and remedy the situation..In addition I'd contact them before having any contractual work done..They are creating a statewide database to help steer us away from fraudulent contractors..They have your back, and it's free.

We too used All American Pavers. To say it was a nightmare working with "Trish" and "Rocky" is an understatement. They did do a beautiful job, but it just wasn't worth all the sleepless nights....We reported them to seniors vs crime and hope people will be warned.

I reported this company to the better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection. In addition I filed a complaint with Crimes Against Seniors. I should have called them first to check this company out as they have over 40 complaints on them I was told.

I think this thread says it all...they are many people out there that have filed complaints with the sheriff and Crimes against Seniors. Just remember never give any money up front...DO NOT PAY UNTIL THE JOB IS COMPLETE AND YOU ARE SATISFIED. Remember to get a complete contracty.....get everything in writing including a time when the job will be done.

Doesn't do any good to attempt to file a complaint with The State of Florida's Attorney General's Office. All American Brick Pavers is not licensed by the state so they cannot do anything.

Not true. Once cash exchanges hands you bet get the Attorney General involved.

Always require a certificate of insurance listing you as the certificate holder. Also ask for copy of their license. If they do not supply, run as fast as you can.

I have read several post over the years about not paying until the job is done.Being in the real estate business for over 30 years, and remodeling numerous homes and investment property, and not paying anything until the job is complete, doesn't make good business sense.Trying to get quality contractors to order your cabinets, granite, flooring, etc and them paying for these items up-front, is not realistic.I never make the final payment until the job is complete and i'm satisfied with the workmanship.I ALWAYS get references , actually speak to clients referred, and ask if i can see the work that was completed.By the way, when i was considering pavers ,i talked to All American Pavers. After a thorough search of the company i realized i could do better, soooooooooooooooooooooooo much better.

We did contact Crimes against Seniors. There were a few complaints and only one unresolved complaint. Trish said you can't please everyone. We ended up paying an additional $600 to get ours sealed right. Also she told us they were licensed and insured.
