Default Bates Exterminators versus Massey

We just signed a pest contract with Bates. I'm wondering if we made a mistake .. everyone seems to be raving about Massey.
Anyone had any experience with Bates?

We live in Canada and won't be there until October .. we will only spend six months a year there, so need someone dependable when we're not there.

If you signed a contract looks like you'll have to see how they do.

We had Bates and switched to Massey and have been happy ever since.

We had another large company but were not happy. Now with Massey and VERY happy. We have a neighbor who has Bates and they are happy. Since you have a contract, you will have to do what we did. We watched over the year and after repeated problems, we did not renew and hired Massey. It was a lesson learned for us. Now if we have to hire a servce, we do not do any long term contracts.

I got bids from both Bates and Massey....(lawn and shrub weed and feed, pest control)...Bates was a little less expensive. What I didn't like about them was they wanted the full year fee upfront; with Massey, I pay as I go and can cancel with 30 days notice. Massey does offer a 5% discount if you pay the year upfront, but, the discount wasn't worth losing the flexibility to bail. So far, reasonably satisfied with them. They do well on the bug stuff; on the lawn, the technician was a young fella who was very unmotivated and my lawn suffered. He has since made a career move and the new tech is much more diligent. Bates got some bad publicity a year ago with people unhappy about their yards burning from wrong chemicals.

In summary, both of these companies should do a decent job.
