Default bedroom floor

We currently have carpet...not sure what to do.
Carpet always gets dirty. Firstly trying to clean carpet. Is dry cleaning better than wet?
Secondly I have heard some switch over to wooden floors of some kind although they sometimes look like laminate as opposed to true wooden floors.
Or even tile.
Any thoughts out there on others who have faced similar dilemma?

This is my dilemma also. I think I have decided to keep carpet in my bedroom and do laminate with an area rug in the second bedroom since I do not have bedroom furniture in there. I have a pull-out loveseat in there. I have seen some really nice laminate floors in my neighbors homes. I have tile in the living room, kitchen and hall and it is nice. Seems like I am "dustmopping" all the time, though. Don't know what's worse, dustmopping or vacuuming.

I would stick with carpeting. I walk around in bear feet. Thus wood or tile could be a little cold and if wet cause a fall.

I agree, the tile in wet areas makes sense, wood in LR.

As far as rug maintenance maybe once year call the pros in to do a real cleaning.
