Have a courtyard villa in Rio Grande. All it has in the backyard is a large slab of concrete and out 2' depth rocks around the concrete...just lovely. I want to build some kind of structure but not sure what I can do in RioGrande plus I need ideas. Anyone know anyone that can work with nothing and build something?

How about a pergola? I would love one in my back yard. Naturally the aluminum would be maintenance free but we just can't afford that. We are leaning toward pressure treated wood.
I'll be interested in reading other suggestions as well.
