Thumbs up Chuck Farrell A/C

A huge shout out and props to Chuck Farrell A/C and his service tech, Chris. I wanted the ac checked out to make sure everything was running ok and Chris explained all of the system and what he was doing as he went along; even took the top off the outside unit and vacuumed everything out and sprayed the coils. Everything was done for $55 - a small amount for everything he did. Their phone # is 352-787-9497.

Chuck has been getting great reviews on here for a couple of years and I've had his number pegged in case my A/C goes out. However, in the first year I had always thought to call Munns while the unit was under warranty. I thought you had just moved here. Of course, if you bought a resale then that explains everything. Or did you just figure to call Chuck knowing that Munns would charge like $150 to come out and do the same job.

I did just move here (3 weeks); we did buy a resale and I did call Munn's first because I see their trucks all over the place. I quickly figured out that I could save about $100 by calling Chuck. Also found out that my unit doesn't really need that 4" thick filter; unit has slots for a 1" filter. 4" are supposed to last 6 mos. vs. 3 mos. on the 1" but I can buy several of the 1" for the $30 that the 4" cost.

I've heard Munn's 1 year visit is about $150 which includes one of those filters. I buy my filters on Amazon, you can get a 3 pack delivered for about $36. Regardless of how long the 4" filters last, the real benefit is the additional filtering capacity of these filters. The filtering surface area is much greater then a 1" filter. You would be doing a disservice to your house not using the bigger filter.

Ok, I've got to ask, inquiring minds want to know - how would I be doing a disservice to the Casa KCrazorbackfan?

Well for starters, the evaporator will stay cleaner, the blower wheel won't get buildup on its vanes, the return and supply ducts will remain cleaner, there will be less dust in your house, your sinuses will really appreciate it as well. Nough said ?

Well, RickeyD, that's all I needed to know. I've never lived in an area where 4" filters are used. And I do think it is enough said.
