Question Cost and time to repaint exterior of cyv

We have been researching CYV's and found one that was appealing except we would prefer a different exterior color. Can anyone give us a realistic idea as to the cost and time involved in commercially re-painting the exterior only of a 3BR/2BA 1700+/- S.F. CYV? Are there any restrictions?

Call some painting contractors and get a quote and you will know the real deal. Get at least 3 quotes

Make sure you go to the Architectural Review Committee, 352-751-3912, to check on restrictions.

No money up front, specify the brand paint, or better you buy it so you know it's good quality, or you'll do it again sooner rather than later.

I think, but am not positive that CYV neighborhoods have restricted colors, check with the review board to be sure.

Most CYV communities are all painted the same color, ours are all a light beige, so you really don't have any choices. We used one of the advertisers from this website for the interior, it was Investment Painters. They provide the materials, which was Sherwin Williams paint. For the interior they charge $100 a SF. For the exterior it would probably be similar, maybe even cheaper since they can probably use a spray gun. Interior they had 4 painters and finished ours completely in 8 hours, they masked all the woodwork and took down all the shades. I would highly recommend calling Investment Painters, they also advertise in the Sun. For example, our home is 1157 sf interior 2BR 2Ba Woodlawn/Durham, so they charged us $1100 for materials and labor.

Isn't that $1 a sq'?

But anyway to paint for that price is fair deal IMO.

You're right. I was trying to think in the language that they used, which was $100 per 100 sf rounded down to the nearest $100.

I had not really recalled from our LSV that most CYV communities each had a singular exterior color scheme as JohnW pointed out. That would seem to resolve the question regarding cost of exterior repainting. However the info regarding interior repainting at $1 per s.f. is also useful and good to know.

Thanks again to all who replied.
