Default Don't Use Bauerlein Construction!!!

These guys approached my mom, 81, Village of Polo Ridge, and said they had purchased the company from the prior owners. They would extend her (outside) painting warranty if they could re-seal and repaint. It was about 5 years since it was last painted, and some areas were chalking. She has a Lantana, and they offered to do the job for $2,200. She had just had the banding (accent colors) done two months ago by a different person (who did an excellent job), so they weren't going to touch those. First red flag: When he showed up with the contract, he had increased the price $176. He said this was for 'tax'. AND he wanted $600 up front. She cancelled, then he said he would do it for the original price, with nothing up front. She agreed.
Well, they did the job, but got paint on her pavers, everyone of her brand new light fixtures, her bird cage, her plants, mulch next to the house, her pottery on the front porch, and some of the just painted banding! The guy pressured her to pay him, and being fearful, she did! To be honest, she didn't notice most of the sloppiness until later. I called him, and he was quite rude, and said he would send the painter to fix it! who wants that? He didn't even care! I am so angry! They are not worth the trouble, and I'll be looking into making a complaint against their license.

Well now they say they are going to sue me over this post. How can they argue with the truth? Here are some examples, and believe me, there are many more than I'm showing here! How can they say this isn't sloppy? Who wants a job done like this? Not worth the aggravation.

I hate when I hear stories such as yours, particularly when someone takes advantage of an elderly person.

You need to tell your mom not to make any decisions that involve big bucks, unless she runs it by you.

Furthermore, she/you needs to file a complaint with the BBB and Seniors vs. Crime.

Tell them to sue you; they don't have a leg to stand on.

You might try the reverse. Get their sloppy work fixed, save your receipts that showed what you paid, and take them to small claims court.

They're scumbuckets and deserve whatever happens!

It's getting to the point these days that if you hire someone to do a job you have to hover and supervise every minute. I had some roofing repairs done recently and I set up a chair in the lawn and watched the whole 4 hour process. They were surprised initially, but I'm quite certain they were conscientious with me there.

Most roofers would be scared to scam Santa! With the potential of that coal thing always there.

Tell me of a professional painter who does not use drop sheets or is too lazy to remove fixtures before painting. I highly recommend people in the community to use only those companies through referrals of neighbors who have actually used their services and where you can actually see the finished product. Very shoddy work indeed.

They are supposed to be coming by today to fix the lights, pavers, and remove the painted mulch. I sure hope they can do it, but I'm really worried about the lights. What if in taking their paint off, they remove the finish? then what? we'll see

Well, I hear they fired the guy that did the painting, and last week sent another guy to do the clean up. I have to say, the guy doing the clean up did an excellent job. He did tell my mom he had spent several days cleaning up the mess from the prior painter. Kudos to Bauerlein for fixing this.

Should the thread title be changed?
