Default Estate Planning Law Firms near The Villages

Greetings! We're relocating to The Villages in a few weeks and need to find a great estate planning law firm. Can you provide some feedback on reputable firms you've done business with currently or in the past? What did you like best, didn't like, etc.

Thank you in advance and have a blessed day!

The Pittman Law Office has been mentioned on ToTV before and is the office we used.

Be sure to ask what they charge to make an update or change.

My parents hired this firm and my brother took their work to another local lawyer and he agreed with me that it was well done.

One thing they did work with my parents to get it all together but once the documents are in place you are kind of on your own. We will need to hire another lawyer for changes when there are differences created to our life situation.

I suppose we could hire them again but my brother liked another lawyer more.

I suggest Dean and Dean with offices both in TV and Ocala. Since we have an out of state residence and one in TV we needed 2 attorneys, one to handle our EP plans in Florida and one to handle our home in New England. Our local attorney in New England had done business with Dean and Dean, they were very good at handling dual state/snowbirds.

Our experience was excellent. As a side note I was the IT Director of a Greater Boston Law Firm that specialized in Estate Planning so I was familiar with how an EP was put together, Dean and Dean certainly rose to the occasion.

We just had ours done in Mass. Will, and all the other bells and whistles (medical wishes, etc). We paid $500. Is this about the same in Fla? Our plan is to have our papers reviewed by a Fla lawyer in case the Mass papers need some changes to make them compatible with Fla law.

We used Pittman also. Audra Platt was very thorough and her staff followed through to make sure we understood what we were supposed to do going forward.

We moved here from Michigan and we gave our completed paperwork to the law firm of Kathryn Linn and asked to have everything updated so as to be in line with Florida law - they did an excellent job at a very reasonable price!!

stay out of the bubble ( the Villages) to find a great law firm. Businesses inside the bubble ( any business) is so much more expensive than outside. Call Joseph Pippen & Assoc in Fruitland Park 352-241-8760. You also need a trust here in Florida. A regular will doesn't cut it here. A trust pkge with Joseph Pippen is $695. Exact same paperwork, licensed in the state, and convenient to us.

Agree they handled updating my trust from California. They will also handle it for your beneficiaries.

There are many attorneys around The Villages who advertise trust and estate planning services. However, if you look at the Florida Bar website, you can click on the area that says “find a lawyer”, then narrow it down to someone board certified in “estates and trusts”, no names come up for Sumter or Marion counties. Two firms come up in Lake County, both in Eustis. For the first one I called in Eustis, no one was board certified in wills and trusts at the time, but that may have changed. I used the Gaylord and Rogers firm also in Eustis, and was very pleased with Frank Gaylord and his service. The fact that an attorney is not Board certified does not mean that they are not allowed to do wills and trusts, but it does mean that they do not have the additional training that board certification provides. For simple wills and trusts, maybe a boilerplate document will do. When you go to a medical doctor for a specific condition, sometimes a general practitioner will do, but often you need a specialist.
