Default Floor Tile in the Lanai

We are thinking of putting tile in our lanai and are looking for some recommendations for contractors.
Anyone had it done and happy with the contractor or not happy?

Default We had ours tiled

when Brian Freitag (B&J Builders 352-516-0668) did our enclosure and the guy who did it was terrific. He left a narrow clean grout which was much narrower that the one in the kitchen and limits the amount of dirt that shows. Highly recommended.

One warning......be VERY VERY sure the tile is non slip, a small amout of drizzle, dew, mist , whatever can wreck your body fast with a simple fall.

Default Tile

We used Eddie from E&g Tile, very good job, neat and fairly priced. Agree with other poster about non slip tiles or you'll be looking for a Dr. next. 407-375-6627

Default Another suggestion

We recently used a guy named Roy Garbutt out of Ocala to install almost 1,000 sq. ft. inside our villa, including the 3-sided face of the kitchen island and a cool transition into a bathroom. The work was outstanding, very knowledgeable guy. Has plenty of experience doing outside tile as well, we saw a lanai he did and we asked for a referral based on the lanai we saw... His number is 352 812-1663.

Would have included a picture of the transition but including it exceeds my limit of attachment file space...

They painted or used an epoxy kinda thing on our lanai and front porch. We really like it.

Thanks everyone for your recommendations. We have found the best price for a tile we like at Masterpiece Flooring.
Has anyone used them before?

Can you tell me if you have drainage or weeping channel to release rain water from the lania so it isn't standing water?????

We have three big drain holes. The lanai itself wasn't a problem as it is under roof, but when we added a birdcage five feet out it collects lots of rain water in a pouring rain. We drilled three 2" holes through the concrete at an angle in a span of 46' to release the water. They work very well.

Like my husband says "Don't worry, it's not going to flood. If the water should rise above the aluminum rail secured to the floor, it will escape through the screen."

To Gump1 or anyone else who has used Masterpiece Flooring: we just moved into the Villages in July and are considering using Masterpiece Flooring. Their prices are reasonable. Were you satisfied with their work?

We added tiles on the Lanai, on the front of the bar, and on all backsplashes. All matched the original tiles but in different sizes. Floormasters did our job and we couldn't be happier. Their price for all was less than $2000, between $600 and $1200 less than our other 3 quotes. They did a great job for us.

I totally agree. Brian Freitag recently completed my lanai enclosure job. He matched the tile and grout to the tile I have throughout my house. He also put the tile on the diagonal like the rest of my house. He is a wonderful contractor.

I agree with the poster who said to be careful of the tile. I had my tile in Swimdawg North sealed. It is very slippery and I did fall causing a not-so-nice injury. My tile in Swimdawg South is not slippery at all. Lesson learned!

Did you use a core drill or a hammer drill?

We just used Floor Masters to tile the whole house. Workmanship was good. Cusomer service terrible!!! It took them 13 days to finish the house and it was not until the 13th day that they actually finished the first room!! We thought it was only going to take 5 days as it has with others.
