Default General Electric Appliances - Pure Trash

Anyone know if there is a lemon law in Florida that I might use? We have had 3 different repairmen at our house in about 10 days trying to fix our dishwasher and it just failed to operate again tonight. My wife is so danged mad I can't get near her. When turning it on it goes out almost immediately. She follows the manual, resets the breaker and all of the various steps and still won't run. They left here this afternoon. Each repairman has had a different reason it is doing it and does something different each time. I paid an extra $1000 for appliances so this is not (or at least shouldn't be) a bottom of the line unit. My first call in the AM will be to warranty, but I doubt they'll have any interest in doing anything as it has been about 7 months since we closed. I'm on my way to read thru the paperwork that came with it to see what, if any, options I may have, but just thought someone else may have been down that road... Thanks

Default GE

It took me 6 months to get GE to replace my refrigerator that frooze my food. I finally got a rep that pushed the paperwork thru. I was told I needed 5 service calls before the unit could be replaced. Call and file a complaint with GE Customer care get your case number and don't give up!

kb - You'll need to check your paperwork, but I believe the GE appliances come with a one year warranty.

Customer satisfaction, whatever happened to that? I would certainly contact Villages Home Warranty Dept. and let them know about your problems. Heard that there were so many issues with Trane A/C Systems that Developer dropped them finally and switched to Carrier. Who knows after all these years with GE, they may realize that a low price based on their large purchase volumes should not be the sole selection criteria.

Actually, you'll be surprised how much TV Home Warranty does care. They really will try to help you if it is in their realm to do so (not sure what the ultimate policy on appliances is -- force GE to replace or just force you to call them).

Also, wasn't there a thread that GE was being dropped for another brand of appliances or was that just a rumor? It really is a shame that a truly good product has become such a piece of junk and that seems to be pretty true of all but the very top of the line GE appliances.

I have to agree with the title of this thread. Our dishwasher is crap...have to wash the dishes etc. before putting them in the dishwasher. We had a KitchenAide up north that was wonderful. It was in the house when we bought it so was probably nearly 15 years old when we sold the house last year and still worked like a charm. I'm hoping that eventually we can replace this one for a differnet model/brand. I realize that most everything in our homes were "builder's grade" but have to wonder why they cant also put quality in across the board.

I called the Warranty Department about the dishwasher that did not work and the howling refrigerator. The appliances were five years old and it was explained to me that the warranty is for one year, and they referred me to Di Santis (or something close) for repair. A year later the dishwasher still works but not well and the refigerator is starting to howl again. Those two GE appliances are crap. However, the stove/oven and microwave seem to be fine.

Redwitch,

I have a top of the line GE refrigerator and it is the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. I will not rehash all the details here as I have already posted on other threads. It replaced a GE I had for 27 years that was great. Never again with GE.

I have the GE Profile and we closed March 2010. We didn't move in full time till the end of June. Already have had two repairs on appliances. I had a problem years ago with Fridgedair microwave. I called and wrote letters and tried to track down people via the web. Finally found the North American President of them, now owned by electrolux in Atlanta Georgia. Sent copies of all my information, letters, etc and the warrant page in the manual. This was of course about 4 months after this whole process started. The paid for new microwave and reimbursed all my repair cost that failed a week after replacement part was installed. Long story I know, but keep at them. Once I contacted President was when I finally got results.

Thanks for all of your prompt comments and ideas, just what I was looking for - and knew I'd get. The saga continues.
