Duncan stone had granite done in kitchen and quartz in master and guest bath. Overall very happy with the workmanship and cost. Overall great people to work with. It’s worth the drive to Tavares.

We used Stone Rise & got Cambria Quartz installed. In the kitchen & 2 bathrooms. New sinks, garbage disposal, 3 new faucets & very please with their workmanship. They did all the work in 2 days back on 12/4/19.

We've used Exquisite Designs in Belleview for both our designer and CYV. Tony, the owner, does meticulous work and stands behind it. When a manufacturing defect was discovered in my quartz, the rep came out, agreed it was a manufacturing error, went back and told the supplier. Supplier blamed it on installer (Tony) instead. We would have been caught in the middle, but Tony bought another slab from the same lot # and is installing it today. They are wonderful people to work with, and very ethical. I got their name from Island Girl on this forum. She showed us their work in her home.

Needless to say, Exquisite Designs is no longer dealing with that supplier. Told him to come remove all of his samples from the showroom.

Personally I hate granite, but I did go to Wildwood Kitchens and Bath to price quartz countertops. The price they guy gave me was bizarre. I agree with the person who said avoid them.

Another vote for Duncan Stone. We could have made a selection from their inventory in Tavares, but they also provided us with a list of granite dealers in Orlando and Ocala from which to choose. We finally chose our granite from Mystic Granite (extensive selection) in Orlando, and Duncan Stone's installers did a wonderful job.

Default Prefer Quartz

I much prefer quartz to granite. Had it at my last house and loved it - no need to reseal every year like granite. Info. on hgtv.com:

Granite vs. Quartz: "On the surface (pun intended), quartz appears to be the winner. It’s easier to maintain, longer-lasting, more environmentally friendly and easy to customize. However, it can be pricey depending on the options you choose and the uniqueness of granite remains appealing to many. Consider your budget and specific needs before making a decision but you really can’t go wrong with either one."

Granite Transformations does it all-manufacture, install, eco-friendly process, no-sealing necessary

The Federal Government (EPA) says that granite countertops are not a radon health risk.

Minami Granite Designs in Ocala. I have had two homes here in the Villages done by them and have NOT had a single problem or complaint. They have a large stock of really nice granite and the owner takes personal interest in each job. They did the kitchen and both baths in both of my homes and I have even had compliments from visitors as well as professional service contractors that have done work in my home. You can check out their website and get directions to their location where you can peruse their large stock of stone.

Be very wary of Rae Builders. We had hired Home Town Builders (HTB), which Elisa Adams-Rae was president of, to complete an addition/remodeling project and we gave them a substantial down payment up front. Apparently due to some disagreement within HTB the company was split up and her new company, Rae Builders was going to complete our project. Because of subsequent delays, excuses, etc. Elisa told us we were free to hire another contractor, which because of further delays, we ultimately did. The only work performed that we know of by contractors HTB/Rae Builders hired, was by Bluewater Drafting (drawings) and Green Pastures 23 (minimal landscaping). And as of a couple months ago, she had not paid either one, even though we had given her a substantial down payment. We reported Rae Builders to Sumter County Crimes against Seniors and she initially told them she would provide the documentation as to what our down payment was used for, but after a couple weeks no longer responded to their requests. We also reported Rae Builders to the Better Business Bureau and they told us she never responded to their requests.

We had our countertops done by Ultimate Granite. They are great to work with and their installers are the best.
