Default Lanai Enclosure

Please provide recommendations for lanai glass enclosures. Any feedback on Kilcrease Construction or CVS that advertise in the classifieds?

Did you even settle on a company to enclose your lanai? I am getting estimates and price is all over the place.
Not sure if I should go with double pain insulated windows or low e

Its worth the time to talk to several vendors/contractors. We just used Custom Windows and Exterior Designs in Leesburg (352-787-9797). Pricing was fair, ordering and installation was great. I would (and have) recommend them over all others for a single pane GLASS enclosure.

Regards,

Brian Terry Vinyl built us a real room from our lanai, using the same windows (Custom) as in the whole house. If you want something more than just glass popped in where the screens used to be, I would give them a call. Price was very reasonable.

Kilcrease built the lanai that came with my new Designer home. Half of the screws that hold the screen door together are missing, they used, large screws that are sticking up out of the threshold (rather than counter sunk). I've tripped on it once already, the screen on the door is wrinkled, and they missed a lot of caulk in spots.

They did not return my voice mail. When I finally got a person on the line they made an appointment to fix the problems. Twice, no one has shown up. I've been calling the villages warranty people several times, and as yet no response from Kilcrease.

We also used Custom Windows & Exterior Design from Leesburg. Go to their showroom and get a $100 cpn that can be used if you go with them. I liked going to a showroom and seeing the variety of choices. We are very happy with our project. Quick, professional and priced right.

I went with acrylic to our Lantana. We are sorry ( 3 years later) that we did't get glass. We are thinking about about extending our lanai now & adding glass.
We will be selling out acrylic enclosure which is 11 feet x 29 feet.

Glass or plexi enclosed Lanais can overheat in the Summer if not adequately ventilated. Lanai overheat can lead to lanai tile lifting and damage.

We had CVS put in our sliding screen on garage, also had them put us on an addition. It is sooo wonderful and the people are really easy to work with. They are a little expensive but even 2 years later we had a little problem and they came out and fixed it. Call me for more info or to see our addition. 753 2940

Default lanai

We used KB Construction and were very pleased.
Mat and Rocky are brothers and they do the estimate and the work.
High quality, competitive pricing.

We also had 3M film installed on the glass and put in a Mitsubishi heat pump system.

I would advise caution if you go with Kilcrease. We just had them install a birdcage and it did not go well.

T&D Screen Enclosures does an excellent job. They level the lanai cement floor. Leveling the floor allows you to install electrical conduits underneath so you can be in code when you install electrical outlets on the exterior walls. It also means you have less chance of tripping when you go from the lanai to the house, plus if you decide later to make your lanai climate controlled it will look better without the drop off. You also won't feel as though you are leaning when you sit in a chair as the floor is now level and you don't pitch down. The pitch is good for water run off, but if you are enclosing the lanai you don't need that anymore. They also inset doors a little lower than the level of the floor and this means less chance of leakage as you are not counting on only caulk to keep the water out. They can install high end, heavy duty vinyl doors if you wish. These have low E, argon gas filled windows. This lowers heat gain considerably. It also saves your furniture from UV damage as most UV transmission is stopped when doors are closed. We love our lanai.
T&D did an outstanding job. They do the job right and don't take shortcuts. We were fortunate that we had good low E windows installed as we liked being out there so much we added a Mitsubishi Split system that cools and heats the entire lanai. We use it year round. T&D is very busy and you may have to wait a while to get an estimate and get the job completed, but then, the end result is worth waiting for!
