Do you really "need" gutters in TV?

Just curious...
I talked to several Landscapers, they have varied opinions. Several good points were, if you put on gutters the grass and plants will require more watering. The area about 2 ft from the foundation will be dry all the time. The sand soil provides good drainage for the area around the home. Second when you put on gutters you direct the water to one area at the discharge pipe. In a heavy rain you will get wash out in the area and maybe flood your neighbor as well. With that I went with out.

I went with the 6" gutters instead of the standard 5", glad I did seeing these torrential FLA rains. They gave me the same price on the larger size...gn

Something else to consider is that termites love damp soil. Gutters keep the soil near the house foundation dryer. Never a good idea to locate plants near the foundation. Watering/sprinklers will keep the soil moist and can also damage the wall.
