Default Wallpaper Removal

Has anyone had any experience with wallpaper removal contractors in the past year or so? I need wallpaper removed, walls prepared for paint, etc. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

We had wallpaper removed in our last house before we sold it. It was the kitchen combination dining room and a large bath room. We were given a quote of $600. We thought that was resonable because the area was very large. It took three people 3 days to get it all down, to patch, sand and paint everything. I think the job was much more difficult than they estimated it to be. I felt guilty watching them work so hard. They were frustrated and I could see the finishing job wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. There were areas where they left roughness and areas with some old paste they didn't sand and they painted over it. I was just glad it was done and to put the house on the market. I guess the person who wallpapered it to begin with (me) didn't prepare the walls properly before putting on the paper.
