Default Tile, wood or laminate?????

I have a lot of carpet in my home and my allergies are not responding too well! I've just moved to Florida and I'd like to hear from others as to which flooring replacement is less expensive, holds up better, etc....
I'm trying to decide between tile, hardwood, engineered hardwood or laminate. I'd like to replace all the carpet with one of those. I currently have the builder tile in the foyer, kitchen and bathrooms. Also, can anyone recommend a really good contractor for the above who is reasonable in fees?

We just replaced our living room and dining room carpet with tile that looks like hardwood flooring. We had out foyer, kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms done about 2 years ago. They tied it in and looks as if it was done all together. I was advised not to put hardwood in any wet area, as if you would get a leak it could very easily get ruined. I love my tile and place a beautiful area rug over it in the living room. We have always used Village Flooring. They are located on 441, south of 466A, at the next light. Melissa and James are the owners and very nice to deal with. Good luck. If you ever want to stop and see mine, just send me a PM. Also, we are just coming out of a really bad allergy season for those affected. It may also be the trees blooming which is affecting you as well.

I have tile in my home with carpet only in the bedrooms. When I went to my design team meeting when I built my home in 2012, they recommended tile over hardwood floors if you had pets. They now have a tile that looks like hardwood. I wish they had that when I built my home! I would imagine that hardwood floors would be more expensive.

We are removing carpet and went with wood floor replacement from Village Flooring in Fruitland Park. Great people, exceptional service and very competitively priced. They came to the house, took accurate measurements and are wonderful to deal with.

Tile is very practical, durable and we have it in the main area of our home. Hate the grout. Either hire a contractor that will do a very narrow grout line ( takes skill) OR buy the $40/ quart sealer and seal it at least 4-5 times when it is new to keep the grout from getting stained from routine cleaning

We are installing tile at the moment for a few reasons. We have pets. Tile gives a solid base. We chose tiles with multiple shades of the same color 12 X 24 that will match the shading in our kitchen and foyer enough. Tile is long lasting, durable and the one we chose is very easy to keep clean. We went to the Floor Factory in Leesburg as they have three warehouses and can order anything they don't have and their prices are unbeatable, workmanship tops. Ask for Wes or Andy. They will go the extra mile for you. We have used them a number of times now. If you want to see their workmanship ahead of time, send us a PM.

Just replaced my carpet with the new vinyl plank flooring. What a difference. Used The Floor Shope on Hwy 301. Quality work, good price, showed up on time and cleaned up the mess. Good luck.

When we bought our house it had tile in the whole house. While it is easy to look after, other than the grout, we both find it extremely hard on our joints. If we were full timers we would have to get another house. Our home in Canada has hardwood in every room and we don't have any aches or pains with it.
