Apparently there are DIY kits on Amazon around $100. And basically easy to do. We just watched a neighbor have a plumber, that hooked up the system, then sat in his truck for half hour while it’s being flushed. Cost was $300, although couple have had it done with a plumber for $250. Then there is a guy ( always a guy in everyone’s neighborhood) charging $100.

I bought the kit and can now do it as often as I chose, which is once a year. It's very easy to do and takes only a little basic plumbing knowledge and three gallons of vinegar. There are several YouTube videos that show you how.

I just use a sump pump in a bucket of vinegar and flush through for 3 hours. Just need the pump and the short hoses to connect to the heater inlet and outlet. Shut off the heater, close the valves to the house and open the flush valves. Easy peasy.

I'm not sure in Florida. I do my house in MA yearly. But it depends on how hard the water is. You are basically doing it to remove mineral build up.
