I understand their internet fees and rental options But what do they do for such high install fees. All lawns are new sod so you know they are not digging it up to bury coax line to house. My guess cable is pre installed from utilities low voltage cable boxes to house low voltage panel in garage.

I do not know if this is how it is prior to having internet connected but do know houses are fully wired with coax to each room so it appears all they do is make a connection outside to the respective provider you chose.

If your using your own modem/router you make your own internal connection depending on room you set up your equipment.

Has any one had either service installed and just used the self-install option.

$50.00 or $70.00 seams a bit extreme for what has to be done. If you avoided this overcharge how did you do it

I don't think the self install option is available to set up an initial service. They need to come to the house to energize the outside junction box, connect service to the outlets you want, and make sure the service is functioning properly. Also, both companies may not have cables run to the garage panel, especially if the cables need to run under the concrete driveway. In my opinion, the installation fees are reasonable.

I'm surprised you don't have Century Link down there or you're just not considering them. I've had it in my home since it was new, that would be 2011, and it's fiber optic I have no modem. I have a wall jack in the kitchen and plug either the computer or the router directly into the jack. I pay $50 a month for life guaranteed and it's for 100 mpbs. I've had one outage in 9 years, and that was caused by a lightning strike. I called CL, and a tech was here within 2 hours and fixed the problem. The lightning had knocked out the back-up battery in the garage. If you did a search on TOTV you might of read that Comcast was rated worst customer service in America.

I wish Century was available but it’s not. It would be my first choice. I have it back in Michigan
