Default Island In Kitchen

Has anyone added an island in the kitchen of a Gardenia model after the house was built? Ours is a stretched model, so it appears that there is enough room. I'm looking for recommendations for someone to do it, and also if I could look at one already done to see how it would look.

I have added an island to ours which is also stretched. Here is a link to a picture. Plenty of room and we love it.

Thanks for the pictures. It looks great. Did someone do it for you? I'm thinking of calling the guy who did our cabinets.

We have the Groland kitchen island from Ikea - here's a link -http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40157485. If the link does not work then you can find it on the Ikea web site. While it may not have cupboards and drawers like an island we find it very useful and hang all our pots and pans from the siderails and keep the lids in the middle on the shelf. Probably cheaper!

I ordered the cabinets from Wildwood Kitchen and Bath to match the others, had Duncan Stone do the granite.

Really nice! I currently have an island in my non-TV home and find it to be very handy. I may have to do the same thing that you did.

I don't think that Grand Cayman or Barbados would fit in my kitchen.
Now, if my kitchen were on an island....that would be great.
