Smile Granite and Flooring

We had Home Depot do granite and wood up in Michigan about five years ago. It was an acceptable job. We didn't like that they didn't seal the granite. We ended up sealing the granite ourselves. The flooring was also acceptable. Down here we used Duncan Stone in Tavares, great job with warranty on sealer and Floormasters for our engineered floor. The salesperson at Floormasters was kind of a pain but the job was great and the price was very reasonable. I am sure others have recommendations too.

You're right, tommy - both Lowe's and Home Depot outsource those kinds of installs. Best thing to do would be to find out from the stores what company/companies they use and check them out separately.

Exactly right. We used Home Depot in Miami for some kitchen cabinets. The cabinets were dropped off at someone elses house... and it went downhill from there. When they finally got them installed (about 3 weeks later!!) we discovered a leak under the sink as soon as they left. Home Depot said they'd send out a plumber in 2 days. They basically washed their hands of everything after getting the signed contract.

If you use Home Depot or Lowes, one never knows who they sub contract it out to. They may have 10 different people installing granite tile. It is the luck of the draw as to whether you get the good, bad or the ugly. I would recommend using a local tile store.
