I will be ordering up a new home in the Villages in several weeks. I plan to add a pool and spa. It has been recommended that I not order it through the Villages but contract a 3rd party for the design and work. Looking for recommendations for good pool design/contractors.

Building the pool separately from the house is very wise. You will save money, get exactly what you want and have much more control over the project.

I've written a number of posts praising the work of Randy Martin (construction supervisor) and his wife Vera (designer) of T&D pools ever since they built my pool in 2005. I have described the experience as the best I have ever had with any contractor, and I have hired scores of them over the years.

T&D has become much bigger in recent years and Randy is especially sensitive about providing exceptional customer service despite the "bigness". Try T&D. If you don't get enough attention quickly from other company personnel send me a pm and I'll send you Randy's cell number.

Good morning tomemerson7, we are also building at The Villages as we speak, and we have found a great pool builder to build our pool. We spent several weeks interviewing and pricing a pool with several of the local pool builders but have decided to us CHAMPAGNE POOLS OF CENTRAL FLORIDA, INC. out of Sanford, Fl. We love the work the design group is doing for us and the PM "Marshall Weiner" is a great help. He is very responsive to our request, and is very knowledgeable.

We also went with All Seasons for our CYV pool. Stephen is wonderful and made our yard work. T&D are so busy, you might be lucky to get a pool in within a year. We didn't want to wait...My only question for you is whether you will be down here full time. We weren't, and it seemed like the job was dragging and the contractors were being pulled off for other jobs where the people were full time residents. Once we got down here for a visit, things moved rapidly and the pool was finished in a few days. We love our pool, the "special" design Stephen did just for our yard and are very happy with the job they did. If you will be here full time, you shouldn't have a problem at all. Trying to supervise from Michigan, was definitely stressful at times.

We had T&D design and build our pool, hot tub and mansard. They did a great job and I would recommend them. We are extremely happy with everything they did and we are using T&D to service ours weekly as well. Just think about one thing when you do this.... if they ask for ALL the money up front, RUN! A neighbor of mine gave it to a pool contractor and all the did was did a hole and he NEVER saw them again! Just sayin, be careful.

Another vote for T & D. They did a great job and very easy to work with. Their follow up service is also great !!

T&D. This home is pool numer 5 we have had built. They are hands down the best we have used.

T&D did ours when we built..Cost was a little more than some other quotes but their service is well worth the cost..Had a problem with the fire bowl in our water feature, called them and they were here the next day..Randy and his crew are very "customer" oriented and treat you as customers shoukd be treated. We also use them for the weekly maintenance of our pool..Our dog had an accident in the pool over July 4th and they were here the next day to clean the water so we could use the pool the next day(No extra charge since we have heir weekly service)..Try that with some other pool service companies..
