Default Villages Taxi Services

We will be going on a cruise and will need to get a taxi to transport us back to our home from Ocala Travel on Route 101 across from Crispers. I have found two businesses in the phone book, Village Taxi and A-1 Taxi. Has anyone used either of these companies and if so what were your experiences?

Thanx

John

We used Village Taxi and it was OK to good. Depending on time of day and/or number of Villagers on your bus, they can become slightly overwhelmed for a brief period of time and you may end up "sharing" a taxi with one or two other couples. Your best bet is to have their phone number with you, have your cell phone with you, can call them for a ride when you are about 15 minutes from TV, oh, and have cash to pay or make sure they take plastic.

We used the Village Airport Van and Taxi (352-241-2000) when we were in TV for the Village of Charlotte cruise in November. We needed a ride between the Comfort Suites in Spanish Springs and the Winn Dixie at Lake Sumter. They were fantastic and I now have their number on my phone. Pick-up was on time. We called ahead on our return and waited just a few minutes. Our first driver had even made a note on their calendar that we would need a pick-up on the 7th when we returned and would call when we got close to TV.

I told them in advance there was three of us with three large suitcases and a walker. They brought a van and had a small step stool for Mom to get in it! The drivers were very courteous and took care of all our belongings and even my Mother. (She doesn't really need any help but they still helped her in the van.)

BTW, the manager at Comfort Suites recommended them and told us they were the most reliable. He told us the other companies weren't that dependable.

I forgot to add they were very reasonable. If I remember right, they charged us $6 for three people, three large suitcases and a walker! I gave him a large tip to make up for it!

I know!! I was shocked at the price!! (Of course, I am used to the taxi prices in DC!)

One of the drivers told us they had just started doing taxi service. Maybe they hadn't thoroughly thought out their price structure yet!?!?
