Today we had a tech named Chandler from CSS Electric come to update a spa circuit in our home. He did the work and left, and then we slowly discovered that all 220 volt circuits in our house were dead.
When he returned he claimed the main circuit breaker blew and it had nothing to do with him. Whether or not that is true (I do not believe it as we’ve had others do work on the same circuit), he took his check and left without actually confirming anything about the work he had done. We have no air conditioning, no clothes dryer, and no furnace if it comes to needing that. The circuit breaker could die, and that’s fine. Taking the money and leaving when every circuit associated with the work you were doing is dead is complete incompetence. The final blow is they apparently won’t fix it because for some reason he thinks I won’t trust his work, so we need an emergency call to another company to get a repair. I’m not really sure how he could have done a worse job, unless our house catches fire when they turn on the circuit… David Bradford De La Vista East |

If the main circuit breaker "blew" the entire house would be dark. If one side of the main breaker failed, then half of the 120 volt devices would not work and ALL of the 240 volt devices would not work. I would double check all of the breakers and make sure these are not tripped. NOTE: You must force the braker handle to the full OFF position and then to the ON position.
Finally, I would contact Seniors Against Crime and file a complaint.

A little more detail could help us help.
A SPA should be on its own 220v circuit, usually 50 or more amps. They typically only use a lot of current when heating the SPA. If the main breaker tripped, the SPA may have overloaded the capacity of your service running simultaneously with your AC (for example). An electrician should have checked these before doing any work. Last edited by Altavia; 10-25-2024 at 02:53 PM. |
