Default Lawn Service, 3 estimates - help...?

I know this topic has been on here before, but want to check...
New home in Gilchrist - zoysia lawn now 3 mos old. Checked out Lawn Service.
We're pretty set to go with Bob's Lawn Service for cutting/trimming (push mowers only, and many neighbors use him - happy).
We have an "interior lot" - small, about 2K sq ft.

But for Lawn Care only (fert/weed), we're unsure. Got estimates:
Heron - $344 yr
Stellar - $295 yr
Dean's - $284 yr

For Lawn + Pest Control:
Heron - Forgot to get est for that...
Stellar - $390
Dean's $519

Some neighbors swear by each of these, but none overwhelmingly.

The Heron Rep was very knowledgeable and took a lot of time to explain etc - Stellar & Dean's not much.

Cost is not so much an issue - we simply want our money's worth and good service.

Our gut is with Heron for now. Any + / - for these 3?

I use Bengal ($20/can at Lowe's)or Home Defense, spray about twice yearly around the doors and windows, with no pest problems, is safe for pets. I used a pest control company, and was concerned about the amount of chemicals, and they kept wanting to come more frequently, so the cost went up considerably.
Cannot recommend the lawn care I previously endorsed. I drove down and they fall into disappointment, neglect of much of the care. Lawn care continuously is a problem.

For lawn care, I am using Mayo Landscaping (352-461-9208) with great success in lawn improving. He push mows, hand weeds flower beds, edges, for $50 monthly; fertilizing (licensed), trimming shrubs, irrigation service and repairs. He's a hard working, nice, conscientious person.
Thanks for the info. Is the $50 monthly fee you mentioned for a villa, designer home, or what?

I have a cottage home so does Mayo charge $50.00 per mo. for cutting with a push mower, edging, trimming & hand pulling weed in the flower beds ??????
Does the grass get cut every 7-10 days?

I have been using PTL for 2 years. They do everything and more. My lawn looks good and if I have a problem they are there immediately. Their prices are very reasonable. 352-307-7484.

It's a ranch home

Last edited by gardeniagirl; 05-31-2014 at 04:52 AM. Reason: but I cannot continue to endorse the lawn care company I recommended. Drove down and very disappointed, not good at all.

I quit having a lawn service. My grass was scalped until it was stunted. All my bushes were cut flat on top with an electric trimmer...including bushes with a natural round shape or spiked shape. Some weed I never saw, and I am from around here, was apparently brought in on a mower and flourished in my yard all over.
What I can't do myself I'll hire piecemeal. The convenience of regular service is not worth having no control.

I'm the OP. Signed today with Heron - impressed with Reps (Howard) knowledge and caring - and their processes. Also with Bob's (local) for cutting/trimming.
I'm comfy with choice.
