Default Local Grass Fed, Pasture Raised Black Angus Beef

Brown's Country Market on 301 has local grass fed Black Angus Beef for sale. A local vet has a ranch and is raising and selling beef with no steroids and no growth hormones, it is pasture raised.

I purchased four 6oz beef patties in a vacuum pack this week for $12 and they were absolutely delicious, tasted like steak not beef patties. Have not tried the steaks and don't know the price of the other beef products.

Take 466 to 301, take a right onto 301 and about 2 miles down on the left hand side you will see Brown's Country Market. I am a long time shopper at Brown's and have watched them change the business into a market selling local grown produce. Right now they have local blueberries.

Nice to know about this, and at $8 per lb for ground beef, I would hope they would be as good as you describe! Would make a very nice "special event" purchase. Thanks for the post.

Not being a farmer, I can't understand why you pay more for getting less additives. Will try it.

Default Black Angus beef

The Black Angus Association has done a great marketing job. Certainly Angus beef is good but I would argue that Whiteface cattle, Shorthorn, Holstein, Red Angus and other types is as good.
Grass fed cattle are leaner and their meat has less marbeling than corn fed beef. Probably healthier but in my opion not as tasty as corn fed cattle.
Back in the 50's I had an uncle who was a dentist that would drive 125 miles to buy chickens from a farmer he knew that didn't feed his chickens teramyicin (sp?)
My mother thought he was odd but he may have been quite atute.
Who knows anymore. I just read that 18% of Americans believe that the sun revolves around the earth. That explains a lot of things for me.

Thanks for the info. We've been buying our grass fed beef at Publix (Greenwise brand) at around $7 a pound, and it's been very very good.

Every Sat. at the Wildwood Farmer's market there is a guy selling Wagyu beef and Berkshire and Mangalitsa pork. Not cheap but probably the best you've ever had. Wagyu beef is basically American Kobe beef (same cattle). Angus is Angus; Wagyu is the best!

Local farmer in Summerfield: Wagyu Beef | Grass Fed Wagyu | Wagyu Beef Online

Enjoy!

Default Thank you

I added their site to my favorites list. We should be frogs in July and now I know where to buy great meat. Any hints for great fish?
