Beware Don't use a credit card to purchase a gift card.

My friend purchased a gift card for me. I used it for a hair cut. I made another appointment in 8 weeks. I couldn't make it and cancelled 2 days prior to the appt. What a surprise when he saw a charge on his credit card for $44 from Tuscany. When he called he was told it was due to no show for appointment. He advised he had never been there and had no appointment. They advised him the appointment was in my name and I had given his credit card to hold it. What an embarressment to me. I have never seen or possessed his credit card, didn't know his account number. I had only received a gift card from him. They stated they had no record of me cancelling the appointment. Since at one time he had purchased a gift card for me they took it upon themselves to bill his credit card. They had somehow linked his credit card to my name because of the gift card he had purchased me 6 months prior. We are not married, don't have the same last name and do not live at the same address.

So if you ever want to purchase a gift card for someone don't use your credit card as they will keep that number on file forever and will bill you whenever they feel like it. Katelyn was the stylist I had booked my appointment with and when I called to cancel I just spoke with the receptionist. She confirmed my appointment had been cancelled. I did not get her name. Mistake on my part I guess but unlawful on their part to bill his credit card.

I would just stay away from the place. Very unprofessional.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure your friend can call the credit card company and tell them he did not authorize this transaction. They will take care of it. That is one of the many advantages of using a major credit card....there are protections built in for the cardholder against unauthorized users or charges.

As for the salon taking it upon themselves to charge your missed appointment onto the friend's credit card, THEY goofed when they made this 2nd appointment for you. When they made the 2nd appointment with you, they should have asked you for YOUR credit card to hold the time slot. They asked me for one when I made an appointment there last year.
