Exclamation Looking for a good Vet

I have a sick cat and I'm looking for a good vet in the area. Doesn't need to be golf cart access. I'm just looking for a good vet that isn't pricey because I don't have much money. I already spoke to a vet over the phone and they think my cat might have kidney failure.... I would love to get her looked at but again, just don't have much money to work with.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to go?

Default Looking for a good Vet

As a cat lover, I am sorry to hear about your cat. Try Dr. Christopher Reinhardt at Village Veterinarian (352) 750-3000. My Mom has lived here for 16 years and gone to many vets in the area for her animals (both cats and now her beloved dog a Bichon Frise) and loves Dr. Reinhardt. He is younger, very caring and will work with you every step of the way. Good luck.

Being that it is the weekend with a holiday, if this is an emergency you can try Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital. They are open 24/7.

I really like Dr. Valdez at Park Heights Vetinary Clinic next to Nearlee Furniture on 441/27. He will try to work within your budget but, like most vets, he isn't cheap.

I like Live Oak Animal Clinic, 13670 SE HWY 475 Summerfield, FL Phone: 352-347-8030
Yes, it takes about 20 minutes to drive there, but they are affordable and treat my cat great!

I love Dr. Angel Smith of Healthy Pet the Mobile Vet. She is very caring and comes to the house. This can be so much less stressful for cats. My mom just has to get her cat in the bathroom, and they come in and do the rest. And when I had to put my beloved lab down last year, Dr. Angel was crying with me. As with all of them, she's not cheap, but the service is priceless. She doesn't do emergencies, but does work with Buffalo Ridge 352-470-9537.

Dr. Porter Animal Care Center Wildwood. He's got years of clinical experience. 352-748-4533 they obviously love cats as two are usually wandering the office. he will give you and honest assessment and won't overcharge. Just speaking from my experience there, I would never go to Buffalo Ridge. They are extremely expensive and often misdiagnose.

Another vote for Dr. Porter in Wildwood.
I agree that Buffalo Ridge tends to be pricey.

Healthy Pet the Mobile Vet -- Angel is wonderful. She treated Brutus when he had a brain tumor and euthanized him in my home. However because it's a mobile service, it tends to cost more than a walk-in Vet.

After Buffalo Ridge at Pinellas cost us a fortune and misdiagnosed our lab's foot abscess as an ACL issue, I went to Dr. Porter in Wildwood, a good old-fashioned country vet. His office is functional and not glitzy, and his prices are reasonable. I will stay with his practice from here on out.

Good to know. Some Vet's here use "up-selling", in my opinion.

When my cat was very sick, I wanted a specialist:
Brick City Cat Hospital is located in Ocala off 441
Dr. Jenny Salpeter
352-732-7877

Dr Salpeter was honest, caring, and gentle.

For my cats primary needs
Tavares Animal Hospital
352-343-7095

We toured several Vets before choosing Tavares Animal Hospital
Our impression: Clean, Proactive about Infection Control, Friendly, Affordable.
They have web portal to set appointments, send healthcare information, ask questions etc
Staff is timely in responding.
