Default Looking for help

My wife and i will be driving the penske truck down to our new house in early march. I have a lame knee and was wondering if there is any group we could contact for some help unloading the truck. I know u-haul had a 800# for assistance, but penske does not have such a system.

If you look in the classifieds of the Daily Sun you will see some local moving companies willing to unload rental trucks. That is where we got a number a couple of years ago to unload our pod. I think it cost us $225 but that was a few years ago. It took three guys just a couple of hours. They set up our beds also. It was worth every penny. Here are a couple of ads I found, but there are several in today's paper. Florida Family Movers 352-241-6329, The Villages Moving Service 352-250-4685, Little Johns Movers 352-812-4889. All but Village movers mention that they unload rental trucks. Good luck.

Hi - I used a company in The Villages to just come over and load my friend's rental truck with furniture and boxes from my house that I was giving him. Although I don't remember the name of the company, our Yellow Pages shows several cos. that appear to do that kind of service. Here are a few: Mike Collop's Village Mover (352) 751-2750; Movers One (800) 407-6683; Little John's Movers (352)812-6981

1. Our church has a program to help each other with these sort of things... maybe yours does to?
2. We used several guys who were out of work and they broke some things, chipped walls & doorways, dropped furniture and more importantly there are some possessions that are missing. Not the best decision we ever made!
3. There are reputable "movers" here who will just unload for you. They advertise regularly.

Regardless, Welcome to The Villages!

Movers, Inc. unloaded our trucks in November and in January, when we finally moved here. They are the same folks who deliver for Southern Lifestyles, are nice guys, and did a great job both times. Their number is 352-552-1646.

We built a house and closed on it 9 months before we actually moved in, had to wait for retirement eligibility. Anyway, during that time frame we made two trips with a u haul trailer and the final trip with the largest Penske truck. Each time, we were unloaded by Little John's Movers. I can't say enough good things about them. Like you, we moved from out of state and needed help. I happened to see an ad in the newspaper for Little John's and took a chance by calling them. Each time I called and advised them of the day we would be arriving. Then when we were 1 to 1 1/2 hours from The Villages I would call to advise them. I think once they arrived maybe 2 hours after we did. The other times they were waiting in our driveway when we arrived. In our experience, they were careful, courteous, clean, and very reasonably priced. I don't mind saying that when it comes to handling our furniture I can by HARD TO PLEASE. We called them 3 times, what more can I say. I can't say what type of experience others have had with Little John's but ours was great. BTW - we were loaded by firefighters. Most people don't know that a firefighters work schedule can sometimes allow them to work a second job. When I asked the u haul company if they knew of anyone to load a trailer I was handed several business cards for fighters that do it on their off days. They to were very good. Good luck with your move.
