Haven't bought a mattress in quite some time.
Are there any stores here that specialize in bedding. Any recommendations for best mattress. Thanks

Hi Whalen,
We are in the process of buying one ourselves. Our kids bought an Englander mattress 2 years ago and love it. I gave is a test drive and agreed. Mr. Katezbox went out to MattressBarn in Summerfield and liked it also. We will buy one once we get our furniture moved in. They make a variety of mattresses - Latex, memory foam, etc. The one we liked was more the traditional type with a pillow top. A king set was about $1300. Kate

Whalen,
Matresses are a very tricky thing to buy. What may be good for one body may be awful for another . Lying on them in the store feels good but how can you judge in just a few minutes? It really takes a few nights of sleeping on one to know. I think its best to buy at a store that will take it back and let you exchange if its too soft or too hard etc. My other fullproof trick that has always worked for us is to use the foam eggcrate which supports all pressure points. I have taken the absolute worst mattresses and put an eggcrate on them and had a wonderful nights sleep, It works everytime!! (very inexpensive too!) Good luck!

Go www.usmattress.com They deliver it to your door. And if your OK with one's that have a smudge or something, some really great deals. Check the clearence items. Personally I like the Simmons and Stearns and Foster much better than the Sealy, but a personal choice. A mattress is one thing where you really do get what you pay for. So spend as much as you can afford.

The newer mattresses are much higher than the older ones - nearly takes a step ladder to get into bed.

Right - the bed seems massive like a four poster bed but without the posts. If only I had done a search on mattresses in TOTV before we bought our new set in January. ![]() .

Anyone that has a king with a high foundation that really wants a low profile foundation, I will swap. Mine is made up of two pieces. I think they are 36 inches wide, by 80 inches long, by 6 inches thick. They are about 4 years old. Will have my truck there until the middle of May so I can move them for us.

Think outside the box if you will and look at a Sleep Comfort bed. They are the one's you see Lindsey Wagner advertise on TV. It's a large blow up bed with a cover on the top. My wife bought one to replace the conventioanl box springs and mattress I had always used. Ours is the deluxe or upgraded one that has memory foam on the top. It is a King size and allows us to change the two sides independently. It is really two smaller beds in one that comes with two complete sets of controls. Comes in a couple of boxes all knocked down. Not much work to set up and then you plug in their compressor boxes and lay down and adjust to what you like. You can change it if you are sore or your dog starts eating too much and pushes you out of bed. They are a little expensive, but like someone said, you get what you pay for. I thought these were a gimmick, but I love my bed and would not go back to a regular mattress again. The best part is my wife can get up without waking me up now, something I don't think any mattress will do, better yet I don't wake her up either.

We just bought ours at Mattress Barn on 441, north of Wal-Mart. We have always bought Simmons (the one with the individual pocketed springs). Get their best price knock off a hundred bucks and tell them you want them to throw in the cover they all try to sell you (it increases the warranty), and they should stop you before you hit the door (we did end up paying $20 for the mattress cover). If they let you go there are many other mattress places you can go to.....GN
