![]() Thanks rs, I will check them out. We are in the process of sorting through 24 years of "stuff" and getting rid of alot of it, but my pack rat husband is having a hard time of it! I figure that getting a quote on hauling everything to Florida will get him motivated!! By the way, what size shoe does you wife wear??? I think we could become fast friends! Karen

We've gone through our house and my husband definitely has a harder time letting go of things. He keeps wanting to give stuff to people (who don't usually want it) which slows up the process. We still need to do the utility/tool room/junk room which will be a challenge. I know I'm going to have to pry his hands off of stuff. :-)
I know we can go through all our stuff again and weed out more things. We don't plan to bring much furniture to TV - just a desk, a cabinet and our two new reclining chairs. Good luck on your move and enjoy your TV life.

We recently moved to TV using PODS and we hired our loaders and unloaders usnig http://www.emove.com The local company that is excellent and has great reviews on Emove is Arthur Martin. You can reach Arthur at 352-207-4896 (cell). His email is martinrelocation@aol.com and he also has a web site at www.martinmovinglabor.com. Prices and other companies can be found on http:emove.com. Good luck! |

I also used Arthur Martin. They showed up when he said they would, and unloaded, moved stuff around as needed, and left. Didn't waste any time and knew what they were doing. Very careful with the furniture. Highly recommend Arthur...........
Of course that's no guaranty you'll have same experience ;D

Probably not a concern for Karen....but, a friend just drove down with a UHaul and a bad back. He called Arthur Martin and their minimum was $300 (2 guys x 3 hrs) which was more than he needed. He found another local outfit that would do the smaller job.

![]() Thanks for the tip on Emove and Arthur Martin. We have been hearing alot about moving by Pod and are thinking it will be the way to go. You are right Villager07, unfortunately we will have plenty of work for them to do!! We're trying hard to scaledown, but are still coming with a load! NJGranny, good luck with your move and hope to meet you soon! Karen

I'm getting rid of EVERYTHING up here. They call them possessions not because you own them, but because they can own you!!!!! It is SO freeing to get rid of stuff!! Don't pay the big bucks to move junk down there......imagine how great it will be to have everything organized and a place for everything. Lighten up and LIVE !! Frank D.

We will be buying some furniture, washer/dryer and othe stuff from individuals locally. We have our own truck but will need help unloading. Is there anybody that will help unload stuff? In most cases it will be about 30 minutes for maybe two people.
Thanks Tom |

![]() Thanks for all of your input! Believe me, we are getting rid of stuff and taking only 2 rooms of furniture, but I can't part with some things....like my piano and my husband is having a hard time separating himself from his many tools. BUT, we are making progress and plan on having a furniture and odds and ends garage sale, plus donating some other things. And Frank, you are right, getting rid of most of this "stuff" is very freeing!! Karen

Karen.
A friend who moved to Poinciana three years ago took advantage of the developers "buying power" and had them direct her somehow to a moving company, with huge discounts. You might speak to the sales office and ask them about it. She raved about the savings. We pulled trailer loads twice and brought strong family members to help us unload.

We moved by POD and there were "pros and cons" that you should be aware of. PROS You know up front your costs (ie no last minute extra weight or storage charges), delivery dates (drop off and delivery), and security was no problem since youlock your individual unit. Flexibility....I ordered 3 pods but filled only 2 (that was my goal), and PODs adjusted the price accordingly to predetermined prices I had establised before I had 3 PODs delivered). The delivery date allowed me tiome to get things ready in TV with the stiff we already had down and were bring in our cars. COST: Cheaper than a professional moving company CONS Cost more expensive than U-Haul. We ddi our own packing of boxes and that is expensive (but cheaper than hiring professional packers). BY packing yourself it does allow you to see how much stuff you are really taking and allows you the chance to "WEED" more out of your move. I had contracted through e move to have professional unloaders helps me a day after the PODS would be delivered in TV.....you only have 72 hours to have the POD in your driveway. They deliver PODS one at a time ...we had 2 commming and I said I wanted them delivered at the same time/same day ....and WE had a MAJOR problem when the POD driver could not place ..or I should say would not place the first POD in a postiiton where they could also put the second POD on the driveway. I called Ocala , Tampa (POD HQ) and almost got arrested when I would not let the driver go until I spoke to someone. It was only when a neighbor who I met only a day earlier came by and helped me unload teh first POD so they could come by and pick up that POD to deliver the second!! I had plently of room in my driveway but they would have had to go over a sprinkler head whcih I ws going to sign a waiver on for breakage but NO he would not do it. When the send POD came a more experienced driver came and he said it could be done...the first guy had 3 weeks ofexperience and didnt wnat to get in trouble...BUT WHAT A HASSLE> Worst yet was in the after delivery questionare from POD HQ I asked to speak to someone and no one ever called me back. My issue was resolved but not with the help of POD..SO just be careful. If you have room for delivery you shjould not have the problem I had! |
