Go to www.virginiatrace.com and open the "good services" list and look under airport transportation. There are several options.

We use Villages Airport Van 352-241-2000, cost of $35.00.

Unlike the Villages Shuttle, the Van picks you up at home and runs at odd hours.

They have to in order to stay competitive. Didn't they lower the price also?

We have a great guy that we use. I have friends that also use him. Don Reid 466-8986. It's $60.00 each way for both of us.

Thanks for that info! I didn't see it in the Sun. I wonder if The Villages Shuttle will also provide "after hours" service on request?

You hit the nail on the head barefoot, that is their weak point and the changes they advertised don't really address that issue. An example is next week I'll be returning about 8:30PM, their last run is 9:30 and that is cutting it pretty close by the time you get baggage and up to the far end of the shuttle area. Consequently my wife will drive up to pick me up, arriving before dark (3+ hours) as she doesn't drive at night, to await my arrival. I haven't called Airport Yellow cab to check alternatives.

My husband often arrives or leaves at times when the Villages-owned Shuttle service has stopped running. He often arrives around 11PM. I used to pay a driver to pick him up at the airport. Now he takes the Villages Airport Van .. its been a wonderful and economical solution for us.

Yellow Cab is the same thing as Villages Airport Van, 241-2000. $35 per person, they picked me up once at 11 p.m. when my flight was delayed, and unlike some individual drivers they don't charge you more if you are the only passenger.

Default Airport Shuttle

Just to clarify:

The Shuttle advert says:

"free home pick-up...when booking a trip to OIA"

but does this include free home drop-off when booking a trip from OIA?

The advert also says:

"Free home pick-up to and from Spanish Springs..."

so I assume it does, but it is not very clear.

Has anyone tried it out?

Thank you

I use the village airport van monthly and they pick you up at you home on the way to MCO and drop you off home on the way back from MCO.

Barefoot is right. Airport Van is the way to go. They pick you up at your house. Used them a half dozen times.

As advertiszed in the Daily Sun just before Christmas, The Villages Shuttle will be picking up at the house beginning Jan 3 via TV Taxi's. They'll take you to the Shuttle Station. And upon return they'll take you home. Their new price is $30 each way and no extra for bags.

The Villages Shuttle Service will pay for a taxi to pick you up at your home and take you to the shuttle station? Wowser! That tells me that they must really be losing business to The Villages Airport Vans.

It still doesn't solve the "odd hours" problem. And I bet The Villages Shuttle Service will insist on picking you up very early, so that you'll have at least a one-half hour wait at the shuttle station.
