Can anyone suggest a good, local financial adviser who you also use?

I use Fidelity--have option of using advice provided and managing my own or using their services for fee office in LSL
avoid fee based advisers that are abundant in the Villages

Try googling , Fee Only Financial Advisor ... There are two in the area. They do not sell you anything but will advise you . They charge by the hour.

Vanguard! It's online. The only shareholders are the clients. Buy a life strategy fund and spend less time worrying about your investment decisions.

I highly recommend Graunke and Hentz. Baylee Plaza on 441. Ask for Brian, 352-205-4101. Been with Brian for 7 years, doing well, earned our trust.

however, again caution....fee based is not the same as fee only. fee based means they can make commissions off stuff they sell you.

best do your best on getting educated on investing options. In The Villages annuities seem to be king. They give the "advisor" the largest commission therefore whoever you go to, they will enter the conversation. what are your objectives? Tax avoidance? then muni bonds, etc. Its painful but do your best to educate yourself and remember 99% of the advisors go to the same charm school and use the same computer allocation program.

I use Ameriprise, and still have my same advisor (from up north). He has done a wonderful job, that is why we are here. I like the companies approach. Have not used to local office as of yet.

I've kept my Ameriprise advisor as well. I have no interest in switching to the local office at this point.

Garvin Financial (352) 399-2980
Peggy Garvin is an Independent firm that works very close to her clients and is very good at explaining everything to her clients so they understand. She found that one of the accounts that I had with Ameriprise up North was charging me about $200 per MONTH in charges. Closed that account and put the money with her. Doing well now.

Whoever you choose, make sure you understand how they get paid, what your investments cost, and what your return is quarterly and annually. Compare your return to the market and ask lots of questions.
