Default Need a Jeweler

The setting on my wife's diamond engagement ring has broken. Can anyone recommend a good, trustworthy jeweler?

We have been dealing with Coast To Coast Jewelers over in Southern Trace Plaza.

I had to have prongs replaced and they did a great job! $140 for four new prongs...I don't know if that's a good price because it's the first time I had to have it done.

We visited a couple of other jewelers over by Spanish Springs and were not at all impressed.

I second Coast to Coast jeweler! I would totally trust them with my rings. I had a lobster claw clasp replaced on a chain from Italy and their price was one third the price the jeweler in Lake Sumter Landing wanted.

Couldn't do better than Arden's in Lake Sumter Landing. Knowledgeable, professional, and they serve warm fresh-baked cookies all day long.

We used "Art and Gold" up on 441 between Starbucks and that Steak-place. They not only fixed a diamond ring (it looked like new when done) and did some other things for us. They're honest and good to work with. Hear their ads on WVLG...that's what took me to them!!

I stopped into Arden's a couple of years ago to ask about something and the guy working there blew me off and turned his back on me to help someone else. Won't go there again!

Default Price of jewelry repairs...

Ceejay, I almost fell over when you said you had the prongs redone on your ring and it cost 140.00! That's robbery. My jeweler in Albany, NY charges 50.00 dollars to do prongs. Ykes!

I just had some work done on a couple of rings at Coast to Coast and I would recommend them highly. They are a great bunch of guys.

Wow...I guess that was a lot then! Like I said, I've never had it done before, so I had no idea what the cost was. They explained that it was the price of gold, etc.

I am finding that certain things down here in Florida are actually more expensive than New York.

Luckily, not the important things (like food and drinks!).

Gold is up but not that much! Jewelers make a lot of money off repair work. I'd probably get some more quotes next time, or I'll give you the name of my jeweler!

It is true that jeweler's make money off from repair. Our jeweler back "home" did just that and during the "leaner months" (but that was there and not here) it kept the business afloat. When we fixed the ring that I referred to here, we didn't get any other estimates. We just wanted to get it fixed and we were grateful for the good work done!

It also just occurred to me that our jeweler back north had said that other jewelers in that area would send the work to them because not every store has someone who can do that. I do know there is a "shop" in the back of "Gold and Art" with folks on staff who do repair work. Could be the same in this area!

Ive had several things repaired and reset at Arden's Jewelers in Lake Sumter Landing. They do excellent work, great service and fast!! Couldn't be happier!! See Blake he is great!

PS Have also had TERRIBLE trouble at Coast to Coast- wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.
