It isn't 100% clean even still, I know if I had it done professionally it would be better. But it's a whole lot better than it was.

In hindsight I probably would've priced it out and gotten it done professionally. I still might, in another 5 years or so.

It's not a "big deal" to clean your own, you just have to have a lot of patience. And quite a bit of agility. I'm fine with the agility part. I'm not very good with patience. Also if your rug is actually DIRTY (I've had several cats, some of whom who had really good [bad] aim with coughing up hairballs), even though you spot-cleaned over the years - you'll go through a couple of brushes. You have to go slowly, and be firm but gentle, and make sure to brush it in the correct direction the entire time.

And vacuum. And vacuum again. And clean, and dry, and vacuum some more. And brush, and clean, and dry, etc. etc. It took me two days total.

But it only cost me $5 in tools and hand-made cleaning solution. I had no plans for those two days anyway

Dropped my rug off yesterday. Cyrus Gallery is (so far) still in business. However they are winding down their retail business.
But they have no intention of getting out of the cleaning business....they are the only one around. That business is going well.
Thanks for the update. I'm happy to know that Cyrus is still cleaning rugs.
