That is great to still be young. Some of us in The Villages are older than 55. Since I have been here for 20 years. People use to work for a living not live off of the people The Villages.

I have a goat but he only eats organic grass, he wants to live to ripe old goat age. Please let me know if you want to hire him.

We do ask to be paid in advance.

We researched what electric would be best for St Augustine grass. HD employees had no idea about any of their electric’s, same at Lowes at Trail Winds.
We stopped at Lowes in Lady Lake, staff went thru each mower, and what results each model would produce. Two were recommended which was also the models we researched. The ego was middle and high end model highly recommended for St Augustine, both on sale.

Last time lawn was mowed was 19 days. Not only did the lawn look great, only took an hour to mow and bag our corner 10,000sf lot. Second mow was 10 days later, less than an hour, with 15 minutes of battery life. Our comes with 3 blades, one set for mulch, side discharge, and bagging. Very happy with the results, for our first electric. Lawn up north is blue grass, so thick you have to drive tractor on slow speed to get good results. St Augustine doesn’t seem as dense

Bagging St.Augustine is not necessary. The soil needs the nutrients.

My SIL has an electric mower and needs to change battery before he is done
I also bought the Ego mower and edger/trimmer and blower. We have a large lot and my wife likes mowing the yard, takes her about 50-60 minutes to complete. We can do the entire yard and the large battery is still over 25% remaining. I went electric when I had shoulder surgery so the wife could handle the edger and weed eater easier. We have a large battery with the mower and a smaller one for the edger, weed eater and blower for weight. I would recommend this to anyone, no pull starting, oil change, gas cans, etc.

I’ve been using battery powered mowers for years. The tech is constantly improving. My newest purchase is a ryobi 21 inch self propelled with 2 batteries. Both batteries are installed before you mow. I don’t use the bag and really don’t see a need for it. I mow with the deck set to the next highest setting. I’m on a large corner Cottage home lot with a fenced back yard. The mower has absolutely no problem mowing this yard. If it runs into a very dense patch of grass, the mower automatically kicks into a higher rpm to handle the dense grass, then settles back to a normal rpm. I can do front, sides and rear yard on the two installed batteries with running time remaining. Easy to remove the batteries after mowing and return them to the charging base to be ready for the next mowing. Not having to store and buy gas is the best. The mower is also much quieter than a gas mower, so mowing the yard in the morning is less likely to disturb my neighbors. Ryobi has a full lineup of really good quality tools in my opinion.

No need to bag unless you let your lawn get too tall between mowings. Cut it and let it lay. It adds nutrients back into the soil

Your post is #39, posters are warning how difficult it is just to get someone to take new clients, and if that’s not possible their alternative. Many lawn company will not spend an hour mowing a lawn when they can finish on a rider in 10 minutes. So getting the one name is lucky

Snowbirds down the street were paying for walk-in mower, $100 for interior small lot. Company started using rider, in June, because he lost 3 guys.

I would like to see those lawn service company's use those rider electric riding mowers I see around.
Not cheap but sure would quiet the neighborhood.

Our friend said the same thing, then yesterday his guy of 7 year quit.
We contacted 21 lawn companies, including Deans, Massey, are not taking new customers. So for us it was either get some goats, or mow our lawn. Self propelled and get in steps, on soft grass, that I would have walked on the hot pavement

Given how hard it is to get a competent lawn mowing service is it reasonable that someone would have excess labor to take much longer to use a push mower?
