Any consignment anything (antiques or anything) has a no refund policy. You know these products are used. You know there is no refund. If you want new with a chance for a refund-go to a regular store.
Said it before and I will say it again. These people are real sweethearts. So sorry such sweet people had to be treated to this. Worked with them before and will work with them again.
Thanks for the recommendation. I will definitely stop in the next time we are in the area.

Bombero, you're right -- I did initially take sides. However, since the owner took the time to post and state her side of the story, I felt I'd jumped the gun. My gut feeling the truth is somewhere in the middle of both stories. I do believe that the OP truly felt she was swindled and badly treated. I also believe that she could have come in with an attitude or at least a demeanor that could have been mistaken for someone wanting to threaten and argue.

I discounted the comments about the shopper wanting to dicker about prices -- that's common in many countries and part of their shopping experience. I also ignored the comments about being married to a Mexican and having a Jamaican working in the store -- personal life irrelevant as to how to treat customers. Ditto not having time to follow someone around the store -- if you think someone is likely to shoplift, you're going to find a way to keep an eye on them. However, it does sound like the OP irritated them the first time she was in the store, so there probably was very little they were going to do to help her the second time around.

I'm still trying to figure out the discrepancy in price between the two stories. I also wonder about a tear in the shoe when the OP says she thought the shoes were new and mentioned nothing about a tear. T

here are places where nothing fits the facts given and it becomes a she said/she said. So, I ain't takin sides no more.

Did you read both sides of the issue? I too wonder if you have ever been to the store.

Hi Gracie!

We are located at 128 N Old Dixie Hwy in Lady Lake. We are actually off of 466 down where it connects with 441/27. Our plaza is called Century Plaza. Feel free to give us a call if you need further directions or have any questions we can answer for you! 352.205.8188

We are a Women's clothing and accessory Consignment Boutique. Unfortunately, we don't have any household items. We sell clothes, jewelry, purses, hats, shoes, scarves, etc. I haven't been there, but customers have told me "Lucy's" down next to Bargains and Treasures off of 466 sells household items-it might be worth looking into!

Thanks so much for your inquiry! Hope to see you soon. ~Smoki

I have been in TV almost 4 years and have shopped at New 2 You many times and will continue to. I get some great bargains and have never run into anything unclean. I am a consignment shop junkie and know that you have to look over everything before you purchase as everything is used. I highly respect New 2 You.

Default Finally had aa moment to think about this again

Thank you for reponding. It wasn't the return policy that was the problem or the value of the shoes. It was the way I was treated. If I was treated that way, how many other people are treated that way... and never say anything?

I have since shared this story with many of my friends that have businesses in The Villages. Not one was less than shocked. The fact that they stole $36, from me then the "owner" threw "my bought from them" shoes in the grabage while making an embarassing drama queen seen, can be haunting. I look the way when I drive down 466 now. Thanks for the comment.

I am not familiar with resale clothing stores but I sure have visited and bought from Bargains and Treasures a lot and they seem able to pick and choose what they sell and I have encountered only clean things that look almost new. I assumed you couldn't return stuff from a resale shop, but they told you that you could so they should have taken them back. I know that when you place something for resale that you only get a portion of the price, so were they going to sell them again for $36 and you were to get $19?

New golf shoes frequently cost over a hundred dollars so the price was a bargain if they hadn't been defective.

As long as you continue with your belief that this store "Stole" $36 from you, people will not listen to (or believe) your story on how you were treated. The amount of the original purchase even seems in dispute but the most you may be out is $19 or (likely) less as explained by Gracie. You bought the item its yours.......Your solution to this may be for you to stay out of Consignment stores, thrift shops or even yard sales, and visit Walmart more often. MOVE ON!

I agree with Larry's post. Buyer Beware. Consignment stores normally sell used stuff at rock-bottom prices with no returns.

Please read the first part of the story. It sound lke you missed most of it.
I will start by saying I use my picture with every statement I make, and I use my real name as well. This is so everyone can see who I am. I don't lie and honor is not a question with me. I know what it is. I do also know what racisim is. I can smell it. I dare say I smell it in these remakes a you are making in the shadows you are living in. So when you post you picture, put your real name and come out of the shadows with your nasty remarks I will respond, otherwise. please read the story. it is clear for most educated people. $36 does not equal $19 no matter how you add it even with the new math. Thank you for trying to respond. I can only deal in facts with people that don't hide in the shadows.
The bad feeling that everyone gets is because they really do not care about the customer. NO heart , who ever you are. I just feel sorry for you. It takes all kinds. Remember the owner thought Talk of The Village was nothing and daft website. So why are you using this site to defend her. For all I know. This is her. I am still deciding whether to go to the BBB and report the lot when I have the time to do so. I will continue to bring it up at ladies luncins and parties, so that word gets around the Villages. I will not be treated like this in my home and none of my friends want me to be treated badly either. The good news is, we went to the golf shop and bought a beautiful pair of well fitting pair golf shoes. At our age no crusty mean old lady should try to ruin anything about a beginner golfer's experience. It is such a wonderful peacful rewarding sport to share with friend. We are luck to be in the Villages in a scramble. For all we know those mean people may not even be Villagers.

Sorry, I don't buy this story.

Did you not try the shoes on? Did you not LOOK at what you were purchasing?

You were at a consignment store where they sell new/used items, so it's "buyer beware".

This sounds like "buyer's remorse" to me.

I have never been in this particular thrift store, so I can't comment on the cleanliness or the attitude of the sales staff, and certainly didn't witness what you say about them following you around...but I think since you didn't get your way, you're pulling out the race card. And that's not fair. Perhaps it was more your attitude than your color.

I have my fire-proof suit on. Let the flaming begin....

Smile Consignment store reply-One of 3 minority confused people

Consignment stores are in Beverly Hills and in very high end parts of the country. We have a fantastic one here in the Villages. Marie Rose that sells Chico's, Brighton Jewelry, $400 purses, Prado, Items in the cases for $1000's so you are confused about what you are talking about. You sound like you shop at yard sales for your clothes since you are so familiar with it. Please don't you dare insult me with your half baked wit. If you do not know what the designer names that I motioned mean you might look them up. Or you can continue to shop at at Wallmart and New 2 you. You have missed the point completely. You refer to my friends not listening to me. I correct you again with your "general unfounded statement". My friends who witnessed this suggest I do something further about this. It is not a matter of believing anything about you thrift store. I have enoght facts and witnesses. Bottom line they misrepresented an item as new. I did not sign any document that it was used and they went out of their way to sell it as new for $36.00. They could have just told the truth. I don't have the shoes because she threw them in the garbage can in front of me and I don't have the $36,00. I was treat inappropriately to say the least. It was miss representation and How I was treated was the issue. I am a full time Villager and we do not treat people like this in the Villages. PERIOD. Again You are I of 3 that good nees only 3 people that don't get it. This new 2 you person said laughed at me me and insulted Talk of The Village as if this website is a joke so why are you using Talk of the Villages to defend someone that doens't have much for you in this venue. It seems kind of twisted doesn't it.

Smile Thank you

Yes- You get it. I like the Buffalo in your picture. I love the Villiages, I love my neighbors, I love "Talk of the Villages" which my girlfriend who is up all night reading, introduced me to (and she "M" took me to my first golf game). I really do appreciate all of you. It is nice to have a community with a voice. I'm going to let the shoe thing, go now. It is just nice that all of you get it. I was just very hurt. I guess it is just so rare I was shocked. To all of you that that I will see tommorrow. We will raise our glasses to gratitude and friendship. Love Arrachme
