Default New furniture warranty

We purchased new furniture at White's and were strongly "offered" a 5 year warranty on the furniture. When we ater called, we were told the warranty had expired (after 2 yrs) when I offered to show her the papers, she back pedaled and said that it did not cover repair only covered "accidents" - then told me the sales person who sold us the warranty did not work at Whites. When I challenged that, I was told to contact the warranty people directly - that White's didn't actually warranty the product. When I attempted to reach the warrantor, the number is no longer valid. BEWARE!

Was it warranted by "Montage?" We too bought the policy from Whites for a special order Laz-e-Boy recliner. It developed a tear caused by the mfg. but not apparent at first. Montage repaired it promptly.
