Sorry but filters only remove most of the sediment and softeners replace most of the calcium and magnesium with salt. Any water heater tankless or on demand, gas or electric should be flushed periodically if you want it to last longer. Prove it to yourself: get a pot of water from your tap, now boil it for a while, 1/2 hour maybe. Empty pot, do you see that white residue? That’s a hint as to what’s going on inside your water heating unit. You can further test by not cleaning pot and boiling more water and watch the residue build.

We had TECO install an exterior mounted tankless unit 18 months ago and it works great! No more delays than the old one in getting hot water to the far side of the house. With frequent visitors (4), we never run out. Highly recommend,

Call Mike Scott Plumbing. Reliable service, as good a price as you will get anywhere else, and no hassle.

Approximately 6 years ago, I used TECO to replace my water heater. Excellent price built in to my monthly bill, fast courteous service, clean up including removal and no problems with new heater.

Isn’t it mounting on outside of house? Does water still have travel through lines to faucet you’re turning on. Unless you have recirculating pump I don’t see how the cooler water in pipes become instantly heated?

Call TECO GAS and they will add $15.99 monthly to your gas bill and they will install and have their own plumbers. I did it and am very happy with it.

Go tankless. "Once you go tankless, you won't go back"!

I would beg to differ. I have a whole house water system and still get clogged faucets. I usually clean out my unit yearly and yes it still gets sediment.

Do you have a filters down to 5 micron prior to the softener? Is your water heater a tank? Perhaps the inside of your tank is corroding/rusting? You shouldn't have sediment. let alone enough to clog faucets.

It's pretty silly to replace your electric tank water heater with a tankless gas one with only 2 people living in your home. You only pay a couple hundred dollars to heat hot water for the year so there is no benefit to tankless gas except if you want that extra $15/month charge plus gas usage every month.

If you want to go high-tech, get one of those heat pump water heaters. That will save a lot each month and also cool off your garage at the same time. Just need to find a reliable installer.

Just for info, why is this the year to replace? Failure or fear of failure because of age? If it is fear of failure. you are probably late since average life is 10-12 years. But still going at 20 HMMM!
Leaking, get is replaced.

If you are saying don't replace the tank till it leaks is very bad advice. The tank can spring a small leak or a large one, just depends. Often, many never look at the tank or do any maintenance only to find a small leak occurred and now they have water damage in addition to replacing the tank to deal with. Since replacing the tank is relatively inexpensive, it doesn't make any sense not to change it every 10 years or so.
