Just a word of warning not to use this "company" to reseal your driveway. My neighbor hired him to reseal her painted driveway--paid $650.00-- --her driveway now has yellow blotches all over it. He has promised at least a dozen times to "fix" it but never shows up for his appointment. I searched for his name on computer and found articles in both a Citrus County and Hernando county newspaper that this seems to be his history. She is going to report him to The Villages but thought I would give you a heads up not to use him.

It is too late for your friend now but the wise consumer would have checked with agencies like the Better Business Bureau or Seniors Vs Crime before using this company. Both of those agencies have an extensive file on Stanko Masonry.

Your advise is good. Sadly very few people, myself included take the time to check with these agencies before hiring a contractor.

My neighbor has certainly learned her lesson--unfortunately, the hard way--which I am sure has happened to all of us at one time or another. This "person" showed up at her door--which we all know is against The Village convenants. He told her he was using some "special" sealing that would prolong the life of her painted driveway and she would not have to have it sealed as often. Another neighbor used him--they are out of town so we can't talk to them about their results. After he finished that driveway he proceeded to "dump cans, etc.," into the storm drain. Another neighbor spotted this action and confronted him and made him remove the items from the drain. (we were told this when he was discussed at a neighborhood function--my neighbor took time to warn everyone about him.)

The dumping of cans (I assume sealer or solvent) into the storm drains should be reported to the Villages/local environmental protection agency since he knowingly polluted our retention ponds.

NICK STANKO PAVING IS STILL OPERATING IN THE VILLAGES! He did a job on my brother's house in Winifred at an exorbitant price and won't finish or correct his work. Than he came to my house a few streets over before my brother saw how bad he had left him and sold me a reseal job. When he said it was complete I refused to pay as he never even washed the drive and sealed some dirt and stains into it. He threatened me and took off. this man should be stopped! BEWARE OF NICK STANKO PAVING AND DO NOT BELIEVE HIS AD IN THE VILLAGES PHONE BOOK (PAGE 390)!

If you've been scammed by Nick Stanko call Stefanie Mahaner at the State Attorney's office 352-742-4236. She'll add you to the class action suit against Nick Stanko.

Both offices of Seniors Vs Crime in The Villages - at the Marion County Sheriff's Office on Mulberry Lane and at the Sumter County Sheriffs Office on CR 466 - are working with both local law enforcement and the State Attorney's Office on this problem. If you go to either of those offices to file your Nick Stanko Masonry complaint, they will ensure that it gets to both law enforcement (for possible criminal action) and to the State Attorney's Office (for the civil class action lawsuit). That makes it easy for you to kill two birds with one stone.
