Just had a new Nova water filtration unit installed.
No more coffee made from bottled water. No more smelly ice. More lather when bathing. Less spots on your dishes.
Brad Novak from Nova Filtration installed the unit quickly and made sure that all was done perfectly before he left. Made sure there were no leaks.
The unit consists of three canisters and two gauges that sits neatly against the wall on your garage where the water main switch is. It's about 3 feet high but you get use to the size right away.
The price is right.
Overall we are extremely satisfied.

We had one over a year ago and just had the filters replaced.

Can you tell us what the replacement filters cost and are they easy to install? Also, what do the guages on top indicate, water usage or dirty filters?

They charged us $125 and they took away the old filters.
We could have fetched them and fitted them ourselves and that would have cost about $85 we think, but why not let the expert do it for 40 bucks!

Correct, all three are $85 (less than a online price) if they are picked up at my home.

One interesting fact when the Whole House Filter is installed, your refrigerator filter is no longer needed, if you replaced them before you know they are expensive and need to be done 2 or 3 times a year.

So our replacements pay for themselves.

Yes we charge $40 for the service call, at that time we check the O-rings, gauges and several others items.

We cart away the old filters as well.

Would filters still need to be changed once a year for seasonal residents? Is there special shutdown while you are away, could filters dry out from not being used?

I've had NOVA Filteation systems in my 2 homes. The 1st was installed over 3 years ago. When Bob changed out the filter he indicated ever though there were not completely dirty, he changed them out as bacteria could form in he filters. He recommended changing them out at the most every 18 months or sooner with heavy year around ussage. When I bought my recent house, I had Bob install the unit before we moved it. IMO this unit is the best singular best improvement one can add to their home!

How does a water filter help this?

The water here has a very high degree of particulate matter (dirt sediment etc.) when that is removed along with the chlorine and host of other nasties the water does in fact lather up better.

The filter removes all the particulate mater down to 5 microns.
Now what is a 5 microns you ask?

Well a human hair is 75 microns

The clothes wash cleaner, the water is great to drink better than most bottled water.

these are pics of a set of filters after 10 months use, they were snow white to begin with, the water in the first chamber was dark like coffee and didn't smell too nice.

Not all the time, they can run up to 18 months, so if your away for a few months you can stretch it a bit.

What we suggest is call us before you are going to arrive and set an appointment to change them the day you arrive or the next day.

As to your question on shut down valve, we put in a new one, that is easy to turn and much more accessible.
